How to play the Job Mini Game in MR2DX

The Job option in town is a completely optional mini game that can give some minor rewards. This guide will instruct you on how to access the Job mini game, play it, then claim your rewards when finished.

Monster Rancher 2 DX: Job
In the PlayStation version of Monster Rancher 2 (NTSC or PAL), this option does not exist. It was only available in Monster Farm 2 through use of the Pocket Station, a separate hardware device. It provided access to a mini game that gave small rewards for reaching certain scores or perfects. However, in Monster Rancher 2 DX, a Pocket Station simulator has been added to the game and can be played without the original separate hardware, all within MR2DX.

Job Strategies: 225 Points and Higher

Practice recognizing the numbers and correct selections to earn more points within the time limit. You will get faster at this and make fewer mistakes the more you practice, until you can always get Perfect Games (No wrong selections).

However, there is also a bit of luck involved. You want to get as many 10-point solutions correctly as possible for the fastest amount of points, but it can be random how many 10-point questions show up in a game.

DNA Capsule Trivia
  • Monster Rancher 2 (NTSC and PAL versions from 1999) did not include the PocketStation functionality at all since it was not released in the west, though the DNA Capsule item code is still included in the game there is no in-game way to access the items naturally.
  • Monster Farm 2 (PlayStation) only rewarded the Pink DNA Capsule that created GentleMocchi.
  • MR2DX's core is based on Monster Farm 2, and also appears to only reward the Pink DNA Capsule.
  • The additional capsules found in the game code appear to be unimplemented but fully functional items. If these are cheated into the game and used in fusion, they will still produce monsters with the following appearances:
      DNA Fusion
      DNA CapsuleMR2 (1999)MR2DX (2021)
      Pink GentleMocchi GentleMocchi
      BlackForwardGolem Dream Golem
      White White Mocchi White Mocchi
      Gray Moo Moo
      Yellow Mia Mia
      Gold Gold Suezo Gold Suezo
      Red Poison Poison
  • ALL monsters born from combining using the DNA Capsules only have the appearance of their rare counterparts. They are really the equivalent of their Pure-Breed baseline monsters in terms of all of their attributes: Guts regen, Arena movement, Stat gains, Aging Type, Lifespan etc.
  • For unique versions of the DNA Capsule monsters (special Stats, Gains, Guts regen etc.) You must use the Song List in MR2DX to generate them. Unique versions of these monsters are not coded/built into the PS1 version of Monster Rancher.
