MR2 Tenth Anniversary Challenge Q&A

Monster Rancher Metropolis: The Coliseum (Public Monster Rancher Tournaments): The Locker Room (Q&A): MR2 Tenth Anniversary Challenge Q&A

Post any questions about the upcoming event here!

By Subster on Monday, April 20, 2009 - 10:37 am:

Mailing you the mem card, you said you would mail it back. Now roughly how much shipping cost would it be to mail to you and back from Toronto, Canada?

As well, I've raised a Metalner, but why no Metalners?

By Lisa Shock on Monday, April 20, 2009 - 07:51 pm:

The guts regen rate is higher than any other monster, meaning that it's pretty much an instant win for anyone entering. By eliminating Metalners, we open the field to more types with similar guts regen to each other.

Looks like a small padded envelope at a total of 8 ounces would cost $2.66 US to send to Canada. I just guestimated the weight, it's probably an ounce or two less depending on the envelope used. But $6 should cover it.

By TracedInAir on Friday, September 4, 2009 - 02:56 pm:

Why is Metazorl not allowed? Just wondering.

By Lisa Shock on Friday, September 4, 2009 - 04:28 pm:

Because the regen rate wasn't known at the time of the event announcement. It's not fair to go back and change the rules.

By TracedInAir on Friday, September 4, 2009 - 05:30 pm:

Yeah, I guess so.

Not to be a bother but I have another question. My girlfriend and I share a saved file, but I assure you we are two different people (we each have our own account on this site also). Are we still limited to 3 monsters between us? It's unlikely to pose a huge concern but I'd still like to know in case.

By Lisa Shock on Friday, September 4, 2009 - 10:42 pm:

No, you can each enter 3.

By TracedInAir on Monday, September 14, 2009 - 01:05 pm:

I'm somewhat aware of the process for asking for a Slot - I'm curious though as to how far in advance we have to ask for it? Is there a cap, ie if I register a day or two before will I lose out? Basically is there any risk at all to registering last minute?

Thanks again, sorry for my seemingly endless amount of questions.

By Lisa Shock on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 - 08:41 am:

Not too much risk right now.

By TracedInAir on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 - 04:09 pm:

My dexdrive was having some unusual problems but I think I got it working (On windows XP no less!). After some struggle I got two files from it but I'm not sure if they'll work (the reason having to do with the nature of the problem which I won't get into now). Does anyone have a perfectly working dexdrive, who I could e-mail one of the files to to see if my file works?

Thanks.

My PS1 Memory card is fried, can I send a PS2 card with the data on it or do I need a new card?

By Lisa Shock on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 - 07:35 pm:

I think sending a PS2 card is ok. Refresh my memory, I can unlock a save and then save it onto one of my PSOne cards on a PS2 system, right?

By Zilk the Rank S Master on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 - 04:02 am:

Yes, that is right. About how long would it take to ship a card from New York State?

By Lisa Shock on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 - 07:48 am:

4-5 days. I am probably going to delay again anyway, my life has become pretty frightful right now.

By Zilk the Rank S Master on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 - 01:20 pm:

Ok, thank you Lisa!

By Zilk the Rank S Master on Saturday, November 21, 2009 - 06:44 pm:

What E-Mail address would I send my monster's save to if I e-mailed my save?

By John Hawley on Sunday, November 22, 2009 - 02:30 am:

Send it to Lisa's e-mail address in the Contact section in the left bar.

By Lisa Shock on Sunday, November 22, 2009 - 05:47 pm:

Actually, hotmail views the saves as viruses. That's why we set up the gmail account.

Send it to:
monster.rancher.metropolis (at) gmail.com

By Zilk the Rank S Master on Sunday, November 22, 2009 - 06:01 pm:

Thank you Lisa and John and the only monsters not allowed are metalners correct, if so I'm gonna have a pretty good monster

By Lisa Shock on Sunday, November 22, 2009 - 08:49 pm:

Yes, that's correct.

By Zilk the Rank S Master on Thursday, November 26, 2009 - 07:21 am:

Lisa do you think you could postpone the tourney for a week? Thanksgiving has been really busy and my monster only has like 300 in every stat.

By Lisa Shock on Thursday, November 26, 2009 - 09:02 am:

Yes, I was thinking about it. Between the MF Lagoon beta and other stuff, I don't know that I have enough time. I also only have 2 entries so far...

By Zilk the Rank S Master on Thursday, November 26, 2009 - 09:48 am:

ok thank you Lisa! I'll enter as soon as Einstien is maxed in 5-6 stats.

By Infernus on Thursday, November 26, 2009 - 03:37 pm:

I think it should be postponed until you have a certain number of entries, personally. I don't want to commit to anything with how things have been going, but if I manage to get anything done, it wouldn't be until early January (I have the majority of December off).

At least I could have monsters for other tournaments if I don't make it, though.

By Subster on Thursday, December 3, 2009 - 09:02 am:

I'm in same situation as Infernus, I got December off and MR2 heavy training will commence then.

By Lisa Shock on Thursday, December 3, 2009 - 09:43 am:

Cool!

I'll move the date to January.

By Subster on Friday, December 4, 2009 - 05:33 pm:

Ok forgive me for this question but where could I find the official rules for this tournament? I see in my older post I know of the no Metalner rule meaning I found it before but now I can't find it now :/

On a positive note I'll be mailing you two memory cards because my friend will be joining. Also should I slip in some money into the envelope for you to mail it back? Or is there an easier method?

By Lisa Shock on Friday, December 4, 2009 - 10:03 pm:

The guidelines are here:

Monster Rancher Metropolis: The Coliseum (Public Monster Rancher Tournaments): Mayors Cup: Tournament Announcements: MR2 Tenth Anniversary Challenge September 4, 2009

(I have to change the date...) Other than owning a dex drive, and have a PC with a serial port to support it, mailing the card is the best way to go. It's only a couple dollars, and I do return them.

By TracedInAir on Thursday, January 7, 2010 - 10:10 am:

Is there any way of knowing if the monsters I sent in were received and that my dexdrive didn't mess up? Should I e-mail you?

By Lisa Shock on Thursday, January 7, 2010 - 11:17 am:

Were you the one who emailed a long time ago?

I got the email, haven't tried to hook up the dex and test them. My current computer doesn't have a serial port so I want to try a USB to serial connector I got -guess I've just been afraid it won't work.

But, I do have an older computer on my home network, and, I can use tht one if need be.

By TracedInAir on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 - 07:05 pm:

Yeah I e-mailed a long time ago. I kept forgetting about the tournament but it was never a big deal since it hasn't started yet.

Also, I figured I should say this - my university's computers have serial ports (aka the old 9-pin ones) at the back, meaning I could even get my dexdrive to work there worst-case-scenario (I'm probably going to try just to see if it works honestly). So if you can't get a USB-to-serial connector working, and if you go to school still, maybe that's a decent alternative.
