This is quite a concern, especially for people in the games development industry who regularly work 60-70 hours a week (not including crunch time), particularly for those in higher-level positions like producers, directors and leads.

Long hours have always been a big part of games development. If their negative effects are dire enough, dev studios and publishers the world over may need to re-evaluate their operations. Fortunately, several new and veteran studios are working towards having a comfortable working environment in recent years, especially in the west.

I will be keeping a close eye on this.

Some companies are fairly well committed to the 40 hour week, particularly after the EA spouse incident.

That certainly makes a lot of sense, especially for independently-owned companies. What an insightful thread.
