The Quest for Moo continues. (Part 2)

Monster Rancher Metropolis: The Laboratory: Technical Research On The Monster Rancher CD Read Process: Ongoing Research : The Quest for Moo continues. (Part 2)

The other thread was getting kinda long, so Lisa suggested that I make a new one. And, since I'm not the type to argue with the lady, here it is. ;)

The first thing I am going to try to do now, is add 1PMin to the Beck CD and see what it comes up with. If I get a new monster, I will try to pinpoint where the two monsters split, and see if Moo is in there. I'll be back with CD23 in a bit.

By WHT Junior on Sunday, May 13, 2001 - 05:04 pm:

This will change the PMin from 12 to 13.

By WHT Junior on Sunday, May 13, 2001 - 07:11 pm:

CD23:
Well, after the CDs with 13PMin wouldn't read, I made one at 12PMin and 59PSec. The game was able to read it, and I got a Mum Mew again. Same stats as the first one. I'm going to try 13PMin again, but with 1PSec added. Hopefully this won't lock up the shrine again.

By WHT Junior on Sunday, May 13, 2001 - 07:27 pm:

Yet again, a CD that won't read in the shrine. I'm not numbering these, and are the only CDs that I'm pitching out. I'm defaulting the PMin and PSec of Entry 1 back to 12 and 0. I'm going to the last Entry, and I will subtract 1 PSec, then add 1 PSec. I'll be back with both CDs in a bit.

By WHT Junior on Sunday, May 13, 2001 - 07:28 pm:

CD24 will be PSec=4, and CD25 will be PSec=6.

By WHT Junior on Sunday, May 13, 2001 - 07:48 pm:

CD24: Eared Mew (Mew/Hare)
LIFPOWINTSKISPDDEF
1449173152185120

No, these aren't the same stats for Mum Mew#1. They look very close, though. All the last digits are the same again, just like the Purple Suezo.

CD25: Aqua Mew (Mew/Jell)
LIFPOWINTSKISPDDEF
1447193152145120

Hmmm... Same type of pattern as the Nitons.

I'm going to keep adding to this last Entry until I get to CD30, just to get a good range of what's happening here. Be back in a bit. :)

By WHT Junior on Sunday, May 13, 2001 - 08:45 pm:

CD26: Mum Mew (Mew/Pixie) PSec=7
LIFPOWINTSKISPDDEF
1247193142175120

CD27: Bowwow (Mew/Tiger) PSec=8
LIFPOWINTSKISPDDEF
11471113142175120

CD28: Eared Mew (Mew/Hare) PSec=9
LIFPOWINTSKISPDDEF
1449173152185120

CD29: Mum Mew (Mew/Pixie) PSec=10
LIFPOWINTSKISPDDEF
1247193142175120

CD30: Eared Mew (Mew/Hare) PSec=11
LIFPOWINTSKISPDDEF
1449173152185120

So, that will be all for today, while I, and anyone who wishes to, check out some of the numbers. I kinda see a pattern in that last Entry, and I got each Mew except Pure Mew and Swimmer. When I try this again, I will work with something with more Mains, like Pixie, Tiger, or Golem. Maybe we can even get a few Zillas or Jokers that haven't turned up very often. ;)

Any more theories, post them here.

you are obviously seeing the same pattern i am. twice now, you have done a tour through different subs for a particular main.

the problem is that you are getting no /??? in the mix, and that means moo would not be part of this pattern...

By WHT Junior on Monday, May 14, 2001 - 01:25 pm:

But, when I used the Mia CD, she was right in the middle of the Niton Mains. That's what I think is the strange part. Also, note the lack of 'Pure Mew". I wonder why it didn't come up yet.

By WHT Junior on Monday, May 14, 2001 - 01:27 pm:

Also, I find it weird that Aqua Mew and Bowwow only came up once, while Mum Mew came up almost twice as much as all the others combined.

By torey luvullo on Monday, May 14, 2001 - 04:48 pm:

hmmm - hate to sound optimistic, but isnt mum mew the monster present on the mellow gold that isnt moo? maybe you are closer than it seems!

By WHT Junior on Monday, May 14, 2001 - 06:05 pm:

That's the CD I'm using. The Mum Mew version of Mellow Gold. I was hoping that I could somehow use that CD, since it should be in the general area.

Also, I am scanning the CDs in MR1 to see if the pattern is the same. I put in one of the CDs that lock up the MR2 Read process, but MR1 reads them. The only problem is, it takes several minutes to get to the Shrining sequence, and is now locked in there. I'm going to leave it sit for a little while, and come back to it. So far, the results aren't that far off.

By Enigma on Sunday, July 22, 2001 - 10:32 am:

Apparently there is a hidden song at the end of the last track of Mellow Gold that I had not been aware of (maybe I should have listened to it after buying it), which may or may not have been calculated into the code necessary to produce the rare in MR2.

My next project will be to attempt to remove this extra time and see what I can come up with. It worked for pulling the rare off of the BMG edition of Nirvana Nevermind.

G¥d luck and happy ranching "
