Niton/Kato Game glitch, thanks Clone CD!

Monster Rancher Metropolis: The Laboratory: Technical Research On The Monster Rancher CD Read Process: General Q & A: Niton/Kato Game glitch, thanks Clone CD!

I have discovered a really cool glitch.
get a Niton Kato almost every time!

-When you go to the shrine, read a CD. half way through the read process eject the CD so that the game freezes.
-Insert the MR2 CD back into the game. and when it decides to unfreeze itself, chances are (if you did it right) you'll get a Niton/Kato every time.

I discovered this while trying to Clone a Multi-Session CD data that was unmodified to get a monster from a CD that I didn't have. The game froze and viola, I discovered how to get a Niton/Kato by freezing the game!

It works 'if' the game freezes. My game usually changes to the "Insert CD" message, and starts the whole read process over. (PS2) Although I 'have' gotten the Striped Shell using this trick (when it works). ;)

Well, I was trying it and it came up as the "Insert CD" message. It still won't freeze for me. I will keep playing till I get the Niton/Kato. I hope it will freeze instead of reading "Insert CD" again.

I just got it to freeze by using a CloneCD that didn't copy correctly, then put in the MR2 CD, and it worked fine. :)
(not that I need a Stripe Shell. I'm too busy looking for Moo)

With this process, if you put in a different Rare CD instead of the MR2 CD when it freezes, you will get a different monster. For example on my Skeleton CD burned from the posted subcode data I've gotten a Purple Hare. I believe basically when you put in a CD first it checks if it is a rare, then it checks against it's other table as to where it falls in the common monster category. So to get this freeze trick to work right, you've got to freeze it after it determines the current disc is rare but before the the data is read. The striped shell is the non-rare monster on MR2
