I downloaded CloneCD, but when I try to open it it
tells me the correct driver could not be found, and I
need to restart my computer. Obviously, restarting
does not help. I can't think of any reason the driver
wouldn't be found, so does anybody know how to help
me in this matter?

I don't know, sorry. There's a chance that it has to do with the differences in various versions of Windows. Do you have access to an older computer to try it on?

Unfortunately, I don't. I saw on CloneCD's current
versions it's compatible with Window 7 64-bit, but
the free version we link to here apparently doesn't.
However, customer service said they could fix it, but
they'd have to charge me, so I figured I'd try here
first. Thanks anyway, Lisa. I'll just keep trying to
track down the cds IRL.

i hope you're still playing and want this knowledge but I've been gettin my addiction for everything MR back recently for the first time in a decade and I stumbled upon this site. I'm happy to say I came across this post and could be the first one to give you an answer because i had this same problem for a couple minutes. If you download that old CloneCD program and make the file, you can use a program like Img Burn to open it and make the CD. You could probably use the new CloneCD version but just putting my 2 cents in on my method that worked the first time. Hope you get/got it to work! good luck!

**my theory on why it doesn't work is because the CloneCD link found on this site is for an older version and when you make the file it designates the Windows version you have to play the .CCD file so when you try to open it in the old program, it's just an outdated vehicle to play the newly made file. i'm in no way a tech-pro but judging by my method it can't be too far off...or a coincidence at very least.

That is correct. Older versions don't work on new operating systems. Find a more current version--I'm personally running the newest CloneCD version and Windows 7 64-bit.
