I noticed that this isn't in the wiki entries in-game either (presumably because you can change them with items?) but would that be a good thing to collect? I have a few.

Go ahead and list them. If you can, it might be nice to test and see if this is random or not by making 5-6 of the same breed through different means and checking.

I'll check but I don't think it is - I think it might be determined by species. Here's what I have, feel free to compare:

Ogyo: Fave Dairy, least fave Fish
Kagura: Fave Fish, least fave Fruit
Jailkeeper: Fave Fish, least fave Dairy
Tiger: Fave Meat, least fave Fruit
Allure: Fave Veggies, least fave Grain
