Usually one of the first sections we try to put up is the CD/Passwords list for a game, listing all monsters. What do I call this list, since sounds can be used as well as drawings? Is the above title ok?
By GM on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 - 12:12 pm:
How about a slightly different approach for this one?
One thing we can do is have seperate sections for the three different methods of regeneration. We can also be a bit more practical and consolidate everything in a "Regeneration List", which would largely be the same but would be significantly neater. The only problem would be having to make different sections for every monster breed, but that's a capacity issue. What can we get away with?
If we were to have a single Regeneration List directory without the three subdirectories, it'd save lots of bandwidth, but end up utterly confusing. However, this can be remedied by taking all the submissions and organizing them according to their type. It's a small bit of elbow grease, and I personally consider it to be the best option.
The thing we have to worry about, though, is how to present these things. The GBA carts are obvious, but what of sounds and images? Images are too much for the board, after all. We also have to present the sounds in such a way as to ensure people don't mispronounce them and end up with the wrong monster time and time again. That could cause a great deal of frustration. Furthermore, what of odd onomotopaeic noises? Ideally, an audio file would work, but once again, too much for the site.
I propose a plea of assistance to Mr. Fenrick to host audio and image files.

We can have unlimited sub-categories. Sort of like how, in the existing CD lists, one clicks Pixie and sees all the sub-breeds' names. We can keep going deeper like that.
So, with the old CD lists as a reference, we could put two or three (or however-many) sub-categories of regeneration types under each breed. So, for example, when clicking Pixie/Worm a user would see Passwords, GBA Carts, Sketches, Sounds.
BTW, I'll be in chat tonight from 8:30pm Pacific til about 10pm Pacific.
By Lisa Shock on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 - 12:45 pm:
test area is up, what do people think?
The main breeds page will be in alphabetical order. The subs will be listed by book order (with the book # in parenthsis). The creation options will be in the same order under every sub-breed.
General warning to all new users: Do not expect the list to be complete immeditely! We post subs as we find them! There will be a MiscQ&A thread for posting new types as they are found, whiners will be suspended from the site!
Ah, well, that settles it. Subdirectories it is, then. Just name it Regeneration List and we're in business.
By Lisa Shock on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 - 01:42 pm:
ok, let me know about any other issues. Any Moderator can add new monsters to this list, it would be helpful to get started on the known main breeds.
I'll also set this up for MF:O, as well.
We'll probably set up an FAQ section modelled upon the MR2 FAQ section, with an unlocking guide as the first thread.

When I get my copy I will play friend mode with you. I have played Animal Crossing with a guy in Australia, so I am not afraid of the server lag, at least not much.
Thanks for the passwords info! I'll change the board setup ASAP.
I see. Certain parts of the drawing grid correspond to certain breeds. I assume something else happens to the grid after you've risen a rank or two, but I'm not sure what that might be. A bit of research and trial and error should yield some interesting results.
I plan on performing a few frequency tests with the voice regeneration once I get the game.
well a 60 second battle via wifi will take 120. thats the lag you may see if you play it online, I was more of a Soft core Monster rancher fan. I'd spend more of my time exploring with monster when i could than Becoming S class.
I've no trouble communicating with my friends halfway across the globe with my DS Lite and wireless connection fairly close by. We'll see how it goes on my end.
*chuckles* I just played pokemon DS via the internet This morning with a Friend in the Land down under, I live in the center of the United states. And the Lag i've experianced isn't in the games isn't connection based, its always been game calculation based.
But something tells me this isn't Lag, Its how the Battle Was ment to be played so theres ample time for both sides to get the proper information and translate it in to the game while sending corrisponding information back to its opponent DS.

Actually, it's quite literally 'psuedo'.
By Blulightning on Friday, July 13, 2007 - 11:18 pm:
Anubis! That was the statues I was thinking of, not Ra. And thanks for the information on Modoki, now it makes a little more sense... but I still don't see why they have so many in the game.
I've also found a Mocchi modoki, and a special colorpandora. The Colorpandora is the MahjongKoro from MR4.
Finally, I've found a couple of what look like Lesione subs.
Also, I'm having trouble playing the actual game. I've only been creating monsters so far.
Can anyone help me and list the stats, in the order they appear? I don't know if I'm building life or strength, and etc for the other stats. I have yet to fight a battle, cause I have no idea what I'm doing.
By MrMister on Saturday, July 14, 2007 - 11:08 pm:
OKAY, The guy on the horse who gives you the Mew doll says 'say the name of a country with a strong soccer team'. I tried 'Brazil' and 'Germany' in a Japanese accent, and 'Nippon'(I think that means Japan?), I got a gold piroro, and some regular Modokis. Then I said 'Argentina' in a Japanese accent and got a WICKED Seuzo/? That looks like a baseball.
By MrMister on Saturday, July 14, 2007 - 11:13 pm:
Fake Edit: Saying Brazil in a Japanese accent does actually give a regular old Mew.
By MrMister on Saturday, July 14, 2007 - 11:36 pm:
Saying Japanese words and speaking in a Japanese accent seems to be the best way to get good variation.
Makes sense given the voice recognition software's development for Japanese speakers.
It looks like, barring the Modoki monsters and that one Tiger, virtually all of the secret monsters unlocked thus far came from MR4. Reminds me of all the MR2 enemy monsters that could be playable in MRA, only we've used them before.
If I may be rash for a moment, I'm going to assume that every monster has one Modoki, one returning MR4 secret monster and one new secret monster.
It appears that you are likely to get a monster of a certain species if you attempt to draw its face. Tiger got that secret breed, and Mocchi, as you said, gave you a special Mocchi.
Could you possibly try drawing the profiles of other monster species in the game to confirm this?
By the way, what type of secret Mocchi is it? Is it a blue silhouette, an MR4 secret breed or a brand new one?
the blue silhouette, same as the 1/184 abisu/? and i Just got pixie/? 128/184 which this pixie is also blue silhouette and i drew a pixie face (well tried to)
Apparently part of a subgroup of pseudomonsters similar to NightSickle from MR4. It seems that every breed has one.
My theory is that if you do a rather unimpressive drawing of a monster's face, you end up with the Modoki monster, and if you manage to make a great one, you end up with the real secret breed, like Shiro the Tiger/?.
MFO's official site confirms that drawing an impressive Tiger face nets you a Shiro (When I downloaded the image, the name Shiro was part of the file name).
well with confirmation i guess your theory could be true, this game is real fun so far even tho i dont understand a single word, i do read the word 'BOMBA' alot, its the only english lettered word i see. I just hope there will be a english version :P
Alright, I got a Modokiphoenix from a bunch of random lines. There's a B rank tournament, where you fight a Dragon. For winning you get a dragon scale item thing. If you use it in a combination, you get a Dragon/?. I don't know what it is, because my farm isn't big enough to make it yet. I did get another item that gives you a Henger/?. It's sort of green/camouflage or something.
When did you unlock Phoenix? Was it when you got that strange feather that Rovest found around the start of the new year? Did you have to use it in combination to get it?
The green camo Henger is also an MR4 monster. Was that also a combination item?
By the way, are the higher-level official tournaments still six monsters, or are they like MR1 and MR2 with eight?
I didn't get it from a combination. I drew a bunch of lines by touching the screen at two points at once to make it go all haywire. I've gotten to A rank. The camo Henger I got was from an item combination. I don't remember where I got the item from, though. I think your theory on the crappy faces giving Modokis is right. I tried to replicate the Shiro drawing, and got a Modokitiger. Time to try again.
Oh, more exciting news I forgot. I got a bunch of cool dragons. Dragon/Tiger Dragon/Grey guy(A skeletal Dragon) Dragon/Henger Dragon/Dragon Dragon/Beetle thing
YES!! I got the yellow Tiger/? on the MFO site. Stats are the same as Shiro. His name is kind of.. long. If I remember all my katakanas, it's Dasode Raioso? Number is 157. Cool..
I've got the game! I'm going to begin shortly. In the meantime, I'd like everyone to list the numbers of the un-numbered monsters that have been mentioned, including the following:
I unlocked Phoenix/Phoenix. Number 86. 120, 150, 190, 140, 160, 110. Those are the highest base stats I've seen. Unfortunately I unlocked it from another mass of random lines.
Speaking of that, it looks like the stat cap has been removed again. Statistics may exceed 999.
By Blulightning on Monday, July 16, 2007 - 07:43 pm:
According to someone over on the GameFAQ.com's message boards, combining monsters does not always result in higher stats for the combined monster. From what I understand, it only increases certain stats, dependent on the type of monster.
I can't confirm this though as I'm probably going to be very busy with school work for the next few days. I'm actually supposed to be doing homework right now... >.<
I just got a Plant/? that looks like a mushroom. Name: Kinotaso Number: 147 Stats: 195, 75, 145, 95, 100, 115. And yeah, I fought a Dragon online that had stats over 1000.
By Lisa Shock on Monday, July 16, 2007 - 09:51 pm:
added those. Please note that I'll be deleting posts as monster are added, just to trim this thread abit.

#32 Daisangen ????????(colorpandora/???) I got him from shouting "Osu!" into the mic. Figured something from the beat game would work but no idea if i just got lucky.
Yes, that mushtan is the thing I got. I did get the Daisangen, I originally thought it was sushi or something.
By ChetFlavin on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 - 08:16 am:
The daisangen looks like the Mahjongkoro from mr4 but it came up as #32 on mine, not #33 as its listed on the regeneration page, which is why i posted. Could be two different monsters or just an error made in recording data, but Daisangen is definatly 32
Hmm, I just got a Mahjongkoro, and its transliteration is indeed Daisangen. Since its number is also 32, Mahjongkoro and Daisangen are one and the same. A small error on my part, I guess.
This once again makes it appear all the more likely that doodle regeneration is the only way to get the awesome new secret breeds and gimped modoki monsters.
Has anyone gotten any MR4 secret breeds via doodle regeneration? Thus far, it looks like you can only get them from voice regeneration.
I've added some more monsters I've encounteded in tourneys to the regeneration list. I've also added Modoki sections for every monster, since it's quite obvious by now that no breeds are exempt from the botched monsters.
However, I haven't added any GBA Cart sections to them. With your permission, Lisa, I would like to remove the GBA Cart sections from all the Modoki regeneration pages, seeing as they can only be obtained via doodle regeneration.
I've also encountered what appeared to be a Beetelfish (Ogyo/ Madillo) in a wild monster battle at the start of the month early on in the game. It was probably an Ogyo/Abisu. But I don't plan on adding it 'till I'm 100% sure of its subtype.
By Lisa Shock on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 - 12:01 pm:
Ok, eliminate those sections.
I got my copy late last night and shrined a bit and that's about it.
I can confirm that if you carefully draw in the grid you can get the same monster overand over. I will work on a posting template here so that users can post drawn figures. (i'm at work and do not recall the total number of actual squares)
I've tried several times to regenerate the secret Tiger to no avail. Looks like I need to resort to stencils or using Wi-Fi combination to get the secret Tiger from someone whom has it, like MrMister.
I've found that saying Monster Farm consistently gets you Golden Piroro.
By MrMister on Thursday, July 19, 2007 - 12:07 am:
I just payed careful attention to the grid on the background. I also used a pen, not a stylus. Easier to draw.
By MrMister on Thursday, July 19, 2007 - 12:31 am:
I just got a Durahan/Durahan. Number 51. 100, 125, 90, 115, 70, 165. Got it from saying 'sugoi' into the microphone. I did excavate the Durahan sword from the arctic place.
By MrMister on Thursday, July 19, 2007 - 12:42 am:
If so, could you possibly take a photo of the name and link me to it/email it to me so I can translate it for you? A picture of the actual monster would also be appreciated.
What does the new Durahan/Ducken look like (there's never been one before)?
By MrMister on Thursday, July 19, 2007 - 06:05 pm:
Durahan/Dragon 50
The Durahan/Ducken looks like some sort of Power Rangers ___zord. He's white with red, blue, and yellow plates on his armour. His sword is some type of wide falchion.
And yeah, the Pixie/? was Kasumi. :|
By Blulightning on Thursday, July 19, 2007 - 10:58 pm:
Hare/Dragon #74
By Blulightning on Friday, July 20, 2007 - 12:19 am:
Plant/Ducken #141 Mocchi/Dragon #94
Golem/? #71 - The one that looks like a Transformer with a G on it's chest.
Met Rubberabby and BigKorobocci (Hare/CP and Golem/CP) at a tourney. Ducken/Abisu, too.
Nice of them to add a few new combinations of classic breeds.
By MrMister on Saturday, July 21, 2007 - 04:58 am:
I just got a Lesione/Beetle 160 I was able to get it after going on an trip to the beach place. I made it to the actual beach area of it, and saw a Lesione swimming around in the water.
Thanks to Chet, we have nearly completed the entire monster list. Only a few monsters are unaccounted for, particularly most of the Beaklons, a couple of Mews, two Zans and at least one Henger.
Also, we still need the names of the secret breeds we haven't translated/seen yet, but know are there.
By ChetFlavin on Sunday, July 22, 2007 - 05:56 pm:
I drew a giant heart outline twice and got a surfana, anyone wanna confirm?
According to DS Fanboy, GAMES Maya, the store which recently held an MFDS launch event, when used in voice regeneration, gets you a special monster.
I haven't had much luck with it, personally. Can anyone else test this?
By ChetFlavin on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 - 01:34 pm:
One time on farm the mystery masked guy wanted to sell me a beatle for 3000g, i had no moneys but thats the closest looking coincidental item to unlocking a beaklon I've seen so far. And he's yet to return selling that, only cartridges since then :(
By Lisa Shock on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 - 02:19 pm:
I am away from my DS right now. The pronunciation would be like game-su my-ah. The a in games wouyld be long like english, the su is sort of short and dropped. Maya is said the same way we say the name of the south american people: my-ah.
A mokoki monster in MFDS is basically a false monster, or pseudo monster, of a certain breed. They're all ? subspecies, and have completely blue, silhouette-like bodies. There's one for every breed, like Suezo-Modoki (Suezo/?), Dragon-Modoki (Dragon/?) and Zan-Modoki (Zan/?).
Their stats are a bit lower than those of the pure breed, and their statgains are quite possibly lower as well (no one's actually confirmed the latter part).
Modoki monsters can only be regenerated via doodle regeneration, usually when you end up making a rather unimpressive portrait of a breed.
By 13thm00n on Monday, August 27, 2007 - 10:15 am:
okay thanks GM, then that means there was a Ripper-Modoki in MR4,
Nightsickle wasn't a Ripper-Modoki, actually, though it looks quite similar to one. Its stats were quite different overall than the normal Ripper as opposed to simply lower than it, and its book entry doesn't make fun of it, which is the opposite case for the modoki monsters.
By Sensei Le Roof on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 08:15 am:
Just for reference, "modoki" translates to "pseudo-".
Lisa mentioned it earlier in this thread. Your statement was rather redundant.

are there Doodles in this game..? and Gali...? and how do you unlock/generate them...? I have searched through the FAQ here and didnt see any info on how to obtain them...
do you have to beat a tourney in the S rank....as I just got my Phoenix to rank S...
sorry if theses questions have been asked already...
By Lisa Shock on Friday, February 8, 2008 - 10:12 am:
Check the regeneration list for a list of all the monsters. The unlocking thread in the FAQ is complete as far as I know.
By Ruby Wish on Friday, February 8, 2008 - 12:29 pm:
Gail is not obtainable and the only doodle is a manifestation of Zan. Sorry
If it's any consolation, there's a special Abisu monster that looks like a Gali subtype called Cosmo-Abisu. Its body resembles a Gali's robes, and it has a Gali mask on top of its cane.
By Dragon Trainer on Friday, February 8, 2008 - 02:09 pm:
thanks for the responces...I wasnt sure..I thought I had seen someone post something about a "doodle code" so I thought maybe there was a special way other than what was in the unlocking thread to get them... it has been some time since I was on this site...but Im glad I stopped by or I wouldnt have gotten this game...and I love it so far...:-)
By alphamone on Friday, February 8, 2008 - 03:07 pm:
speaking of the creation list, we should investigate the spoken words regeneration themes, someone could post a list of words in the themes, and others could investigate what the words shrine, and post them, and then we can add them to the regeneration lists.
We already have the necessary spoken words for every monster that is created by this method. They just haven't been fully posted yet. I am working on these things in my very limited spare time.
But if you want to figure them out yourself, here they all are -
By alphamone on Sunday, February 10, 2008 - 02:38 am:
torikeratopusu = corkasus
suteirakosaurusu = crevasse
that is all i have so far, it would be a bit easier if i could get a slightly higher resolution image, then i could just enter all the katakana phrases, and get the translations in quickly. the kanji would pose more of a problem, but i have plenty of spare time at the moment, but i dont realy want to get eyestrain trying to work out if i am looking at a "ten-ten" or a maru, not to mention that there are a few katakana that are hard to disnguish at lower resolutions.
