Power based Techniques

Monster Rancher Metropolis: Monster Rancher 4 Archive (PS2): Monster Farm 4 (Spoilers!): Reviews, Information on Gameplay, Etc. : Power based Techniques
By Raistlin_Majere on Monday, September 15, 2003 - 05:36 pm:

most who have played monster farm/monster rancher knows about power based (yellow techniques) and int based techniques(green techniques). Another additional feature in Monster Farm 4 is that you could customize some of the power based techniques by adding elemental attributes on them (that is if that technique doesn't have any elemental attribute yet) :)

Great job Raist. Keep up the good work :)

But did I just see a stat level go beyond level 20 in the screenshot you posted?

By Infernus on Wednesday, September 17, 2003 - 12:23 pm:

Level 25 at 400 something...that's crazy. The monster levels up too? This better not pull a pokemon...

By BlackRipper on Wednesday, September 17, 2003 - 01:01 pm:

hey RM I'm confuse on the leveling thing i saw on ur update is the leveling system like pokemon like Ifernus said or is it like #2when ur monster did training it's stats would level up or is it both pokemon and #2 sry if it had been ask but i'm really cofused

By Raistlin_Majere on Wednesday, September 17, 2003 - 05:01 pm:

oops sorry forgot to explain the leveling system on the stats... well here goes the leveling system is based on multiples of 20. Meaning for every 20 points you attain a level on a particular skill. Example 1-20 = Level 1, 21-40 = Level 2 etc... I'm still studying how this level system affects a monster's performance in battle. But i still have to study it some more. Like my pixie's Intelligence its currently at 482 so it would be level 25 already. :)

Two question.
1. In the section you labled "1. Skills/Techniques" are there always 12 slots for moves or does it vary for each monster. If it doesn't vary, are some monsters unable to fill all 12 slots?

2. When an element is equipped does it change the animation of the attack?

By Lisa Shock on Thursday, September 18, 2003 - 11:12 am:

There are always 12 slots, but sometimes one or more are filled in with a grey box, (like in MR3) if the monster doesn't have that many techs.

to chet:
just as lisa said just like in mr3 there would be a grey box if the monster has less than 12 techniques but overall there are at most 12 slots :)

2. as for elemental effects there would be some additional effects when used like explosion for fire etc.. aside from that there would be also sound effects for the element that is used.
