My First Bug Report

Monster Rancher Metropolis: Monster Rancher 4 Archive (PS2): Monster Farm 4 (Spoilers!): Reviews, Information on Gameplay, Etc. : My First Bug Report
By Lisa Shock on Saturday, August 23, 2003 - 11:10 pm:

On Friday I found my first serious bug in the game, and reported it to Tecmo immediately. The shrine will get locked up if you try newer region 1 PSX games (Tecmo Stackers works, but Deception 3 freezes the game) or PC CD-ROMs. Brian put report through immediately to the developers in Japan.

Now, there shoudln't be too much cause for alarm here. The PS2's regional lockout is probably not liking my PSX games, and it won't read PC CD-ROMs. This is exactly like MF3 (right down to me finding the same bug and being first to submit it). Tecmo Japan fixed MF3 (after I showed them the problem) so that if a CD can't be read, the game reads itself. (Thus was born the standard Mocchi which everyone hates.) Hopefully there will be a workaround for this, although, since the instructions clearly state that DVDs, PS2 games, and Music CDs are what you are expected to use, most players will never have a problem. (And most US players don't have extensive out-of-region games to test, either.)

Thanks for the report Lisa. I don't mind being forced to get a generic monster for non-readable CD's as long as it doesn't lock up the game.

True. Let's just hope that the default monster is NOT Mocchi.

for me PC CD-ROMS haven't locked up my system yet :) and the default monster is not a Mocchi but Panchos for the japanese version :)
