Monster Rancher Metropolis: Monster Rancher 1 Archive (PSOne): Combining: Combination Yields Offspring With More Techs Than Parents! By Lisa Shock on Sunday, March 11, 2001 - 10:17 pm:
This is completely bizarre! I am raising monsters to see what the optimal lifespans are of each breed, see my thread in the FAQ for the details on the method, and so I'm just doing LD, resting and feeding mint. These monsters never go to training or enter battles. -And they are created by taking 2 purebreeds from the same CD and combining them without being raised at all. (To counter the lifespan variations off CD that were discovered in MR2.) So, anyway, these monsters just have the three techs they were born with. By Lisa Shock on Monday, March 12, 2001 - 07:08 pm: Yeah, I would not have believed it it if it hadn't happened to me! I am also learning a lot about stress in MR1 from my lifespan experiments, I'll post a report when I have data from more monsters. By Steel Dragon on Thursday, August 30, 2001 - 12:22 pm:
I combined a Hare that had Its Basic Techs,GuruGuru, and Head Jab with an un-trained Pixie and got a Buster that had all of the techs the Hare had, PLUS Shriek. My theory is that if it gets all of the techs that one of the main types used in combining had it might have another tech that the monster used in combining that gave the resulting monster its main type didn't have. to put it simply, since Valentinos start with flame when gotten off a CD that might be the explanation of your four tech Valentino and my five tech Buster.(Busters start with Shriek when gotten off a CD)
