How To Get A Ghost

Out of all the Monster Rancher 1 critters, this has got to be one of the hardest ones to get. People have posted all sorts of ways to get it in a 'surer' pattern, and yet I've never found any of them to work more than just the basics. Anyhow, here are just those basics:

To get a ghost, first you have to kill a monster. It doesn't matter what monster, just make sure it dies. Once it has, then get a new monster from a disk. It doesn't matter what monster, again, but it has to be a disk monster. Market-boughts won't work for this one. Once that's happened, raise your monster normally, then make sure it gets at least one fight in. Win or lose, when it comes out, there is a slim chance (1 in 16, so I've been told) that it will gain a 'mark', showing the place is haunted. Once this happens, you've got your ghost! Well, sort of. You have your ghost-maker, anyhow. Just breed that monster with any other monster, and voila! You have your very own cute li'l ghostie.

Now, I've heard a lot of things about how to get the chance more sure. These include:

*Make sure it's an evil hare, raised in the 'bad' style that you kill.

*Make sure you don't give it a funeral.

*To get the mark, the new monster has to fight in the very first fight since its birth.

*All of these rumors are false!

All hopes aside, my monster was an Echo (plant/golem), it was raised to be level c, it was raised in my typical lifestyle (which means it was either normal or soft), and it was killed in its b-class fight. I held a funeral for it. The tiger that was 'marked' wasn't fought immediately, but it was fought soon afterwards.

And notes for folks: ghosts are high intelligence critters. Very fragile, but with good attacks if you have the patience. As I remember, they live a long time, too (how _does_ a ghost die?).
