I wanted to know what all the monsters in the game looked like, so I used a gameshark to get all monsters in my book. Does this also mean that I can get any locked monster from a CD?

This section was created when we moved to the site in 2000, years after MR's release in 1997. A few of us simply posted what we knew, since all of the MR1 data from our old home was destroyed by the jealous teen who deleted the whole forum. I never tried that, I am sure that someone has in the past, but no one ever bothered to post about it.

I recently was able to get Monster Rancher, after having my copy broken for years. I instantly got back into it, and after a LOT of work, got all the monsters (thanks to the subcodes), and got all the book pictures. Once I get site hosting, I'll put them up for all of you.

And no, I don't think once you have it in the book it can just allow you to get any. The gameshark is VERY specific which part of the ram it modifies.

I agree with Dan. Like he said, gamesharks only unlock what they are meant to unlock. Just because it unlocks the pictures in the books, doesn't mean that all are unlocked.

Easiest way to find out: use the disk list or (more likely) a subcoded disk and try to make one you haven't unlocked legitimately. If it works, you're good- and I want to know, so I can be cheesy and try it myself. ;-) It would be a good way to test drive a monster to see if it's worth unlocking other than for completion.

Sorry FF, I tested it and the answer was no. It would've been nice though. I would have tried this myself earlier, but I had a friend who I let borrow the game and wouldn't give it back until recently.
