Monster Rancher Metropolis: Monster Rancher Advance 2 Archive (GameBoy Advance): The Hospital (Illnesses/Characteristics): Popularity
By GoldenBoy on Wednesday, December 11, 2002 - 07:49 am:

No its not the ubiquitous "what's the most
popular MRA2 breed?" thread.

Today I wanted to start talking about the Popular
Characteristic. Most monsters get it if they
fight well initially and it seems to disappear
after they've had 100 fame for a while. It
increases the amt of fame you get per battle.

Someone posted in another thread that it makes it
easier to get Soulmates. I doubt that, regardless
of the description. If its true great, but it's
not crucial. I tend to excise this char with
surgery after a while, mainly because I don't
want it keeping my monster from getting a truly
cool battle trait (dignity or statking) later on.

Well, in my experience, Popular has never helped me get a soulmate. My umm...oh, it was my Delphi had popular and I fought like...umm...around 20 wild monsters on expeditions, it had that trait the whole time and I only have five soulmates, and strangely...they were all the ones that I killed in one hit k.o's before 10 seconds were up...I think that might have something to do with soulmates possibly...but all I found with the trait was that I got like...32 or so fame per battle (I did get 32 once)...

How soundly you beat a foe definitely affects how
much chance to get them as a soulmate. I also
suspect it is breed specific. I had much better
luck with my hare than any other monster, it was
the first monster I earned more than friend moves
with I think.

its strange how my Rolling got a soulmate every time i fought one. I mostly killed them in 1 or 2 hits. My friendlist was full so i had to delete some doubles that i had.

interesting... possibly all soulmates you can achieve without linking (via battles against "special strays") have a 100% cance of bagging you a soulmate? of the many I've had, as long as I've won the match, I gain a soulmate. someone should research this, eh?

It's pretty well concluded that Popular adds to
earned Fame in battle
