Monster Rancher Metropolis: Monster Rancher Advance Archive (GameBoy Advance): FAQ: Combining Made (Sorta) Simple: Charateristics Carryover By John Hawley on Monday, December 31, 2001 - 12:37 pm:
This is a quick, down-and-dirty explanation of combining in MRA. It is not intended to be the all-knowing oracle. It IS intended to give you a better idea of what to expect when combining monsters as far as the transfer of traits is concerned. To begin:
Until either or both monsters run out of traits to pass along or you reach the six trait limit. (Note: Some monsters can't inherit some traits or can't use them if they do inherit them.) Native Traits: Most monsters have a trait that appears throughout that group. Golems have Rock Skin, Pixies have Soft Smell, Antlans have Hard Skin and Mocchis have Soft Body. We call these Native traits. Native traits will reappear in every combined monster even if the combining monsters have had those traits removed by LetheRx. So you must plan your combinations to keep all the desirable traits you can. Remember, six traits is the limit and Native traits always appear in the combined monster. A recommended combining monster is Zan as it appears to have no Native trait, so that you would get maximum transfer from it. A list of Native traits by Jimeous appears in this section. Combining Traits: Some traits will combine to produce other traits that are very good. Dark Aura will combine with Light Aura to produce Dusk Aura, a trait that offers the best of both traits and uses only one slot. Gold Gift should be in everyone's arsenal of traits. These are the traits that we know now that will combine: Dark Aura + Light Aura = Dusk Aura Hi-Sense + Hi-Tough + Hi-Speed + Hi-Power + Hi-Tech = Gold Gift There are others and we will add them as they are found. An Example: Finally, we will provide an example of a combination.
As you can see, the Main's Native trait appeared in the number 1 slot. The next five traits combined to produce Gold Gift and took the number 2 slot. And the final trait transfered to the number 3 slot. This leaves several slots open to add what you choose from the trait-giving items. And Now The Bonus!!: If you don't already have a monster of your combined type, your new monster and his top three traits will be added to your book. Now you have a very valuable base monster for combining, training or whatnot. Well, that's it for now. I hope that this is some help in your attempts to breed the uber-monster of your dreams.
