Drills Hate Me ;_;

By Penguin God on Sunday, August 8, 2010 - 06:30 pm:

Drills really hate me. There hasn't a single drill where I've come out with more gains then losses, or hit all the "lose rolls" spaces right away.

Is this the case for anyone else, or am I just having really bad luck. I haven't been sending my monsters on drills to even learn moves because it damages their stats.

By Thorr on Sunday, August 8, 2010 - 06:40 pm:

Drills are very random, but there are some really great times to do specific locations. Most of my drills are 3-4 gains max. However, I just had a magic run where I had 15 gains (non primary stat, so a total of about 200 gained points) in the Promiass ruins.

By KK on Sunday, August 8, 2010 - 07:02 pm:

I've had a couple of really good runs. I just wish that the discounts didn't hate me. Stupid Colt....

I don't think the dice roll is random. I believe it's based on a certain tempo- '52 beats a minute'-ish. I use an online metronome with these settings, and I usually get within 1 number or right on, which is to be expected accounting for human error.

By TheSillygoth on Sunday, August 8, 2010 - 07:44 pm:

Any thoughts on if you get more beneficial rolls
with a monster that has higher potential? Like
perhaps the rolls are still random number generation
to a point, but weighted for "luck".

Of course, if KK's found the proper count...that
would mean there's nothing random about the dice
roll at all.

By Thorr on Sunday, August 8, 2010 - 08:24 pm:

Number of rolls are directly determined by your Life stat.

And no, the dice are never weighted for potential. Potential deals with stat gain patterns only.

About the discounts - I've noticed they come after an official cup.

By Shen the Keeper on Monday, August 9, 2010 - 06:20 am:

I actually did a drill over the weekend where I actually lost stats. x.x

Tired him out, wasted lifespan and money for a loss.

That stunk obviously.

By Thorr on Monday, August 9, 2010 - 07:22 am:

Funny, I did too. baout 20 minutes after I posted the above message.

Gained rolls, lost rolls, fail, fail, fail.

Yet I still learned a tech...

By Dragon Trainer on Monday, August 9, 2010 - 08:25 am:

Thats happened to me twice..I had a bad drill where I lost more than gained..and I still gained a tech when going back to the ranch...
but I also have had quite a few really good drills where I gained 5-6, or more

I drill often reguardless of the discount...

By Thorr on Monday, August 9, 2010 - 08:37 am:

I actually find that I gain techs more when I have bad Drills than when I have good ones.

By Dragon Trainer on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 - 06:59 am:

I dont know if this hold true...but it happened to me twice last night..
It seemed to learn a new tech on it's own after failing on the last block on the drills I was doing...
unfortunately, I wasnt paying a lot of attention if that was the case the other times my monster learned a tech on it's own after a bad drill..

By Rahu on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 - 12:38 pm:

I tend to get good stat gains when I drill, but rarely pick up a new tech.

By Seija on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 - 06:37 pm:

If it's an help, I get mediocre rolls/mediocre skills, but a fair amount of techniques.
