Monster Rancher Metropolis: Monster Rancher 3 Archive (PS2): Storyline Topics: Alternate Paths? (Selling The Area & Date) By Nate Railsback on Saturday, October 13, 2001 - 04:16 pm:
I just got to A Rank, and after winning the cup for the Pixie Tiara (or whatever it is), I got assaulted in combination by Date and Yuikyo. Date offered me 10,000 G for my land, I turned him down, and got into a fight. He gave me a Black Pearl afterwards. Then Yuikyo appeared for the first time, and ended up asking for a fight. After fighting through a tournament and Date's monster, I didn't want to push mine too hard, and so I declined...getting a measly rice cake for my troubles. By John Hawley on Saturday, October 13, 2001 - 04:23 pm: No, the offer from Date is always turned down and even if you beat Yuikyo all you get is the yam rice cake. By Crystal Pixie on Saturday, October 13, 2001 - 04:29 pm: So, John Hawley, did you say yes to Date or what? I mean how do you know? I've been wondering if Fleria says something like that it's not right or what? By John Hawley on Saturday, October 13, 2001 - 04:41 pm: It's been reported by people that I can trust that Fleria does indeed tell you about trying to sell it and you end up keeping it. Yuikyo, I know from personal experience as I tried it both ways. By Nate Railsback on Saturday, October 13, 2001 - 04:44 pm:
I just went back and re-did this scenario (fortunately I had saved before going into the tournament), and chose the alternate options. John's right: I get pretty much the same results either way. Fleria immediately yells out that we refuse his offer when I try to say yes (thereby launching me along the same dialogue line and into a fight with his Windine), and if I fight Yuikyo's sorry monster, it gets trashed and I get a Yam Rice Cake. The weird thing is, in the version where I take them both on, my Raiden came out LESS tired than if he refused Yuikyo! Perhaps that's what Fleria means when she says "I think if we don't, we'll be cursed"? Oh well.
