I know that in MR1/2 if you entered battles ranked lower than your monster's "offical" rank it would hurt the fame/feelings of the monster.

Does this still hold? There are some pieces I missed and would like to go back for. Has anyone tried this?

You get a warning that it'll lower your fame. I didn't check to see if it would affect your breeder fame, the fame in just that one area that the tournament was held in, all areas, or what.

I'm also not sure if lowering your fame will hurt anything, except probably making it longer to unlock areas if you don't have them all unlocked.

Actually, from everyone who said they did, fighting lower rank tourneys still helps unlock other lands. Perhaps it only lowers Mosnter fame, but not Breeder fame?

I was able to unlock two areas by going down from A to B. However, then when I tried to unlock a third area (Goat) I couldn't. Even when I tried higher ranking battles in Goat. It messed my fame up so badly that I had to wait until my monster died to even start getting it back up again. My next monster I had battle in every level's Goat tourney (and no other areas' except the official ones), he opened the Goat area after winning the B level Goat tourney.

In conclusion, I suspect that going down to win one battle, maybe two, to unlock is ok, but don't count on it to unlock everything for you, or you will wind up spending more time overall trying to unlock.

with my Bclass pixie I was jumping around in all the ranks but none of my fames went down. I did this with all areas unlocked.

Well, what if you already unlocked all the areas? Is there any effect? I would guess that if you have a proud or battle-loving monster you might make him mad, but this is just guesswork. Anyone ever try it?

Your breeder fame will decrease. It is shown on page one of the breeder data in view mode.

I had an Aspis (Naga/Tak) and it had the Battle-Loving characteristic. It would get mopey and stressed out unless I played in tourneys. When it got to S Class, I had to slum to keep it happy.
