Figured out a little trick some may already know. most people say heavy training shouldn't start until the monster is 8 months old. well that is because at that point, your monster has i high wits level (which increases success). so my solution id to feed it like 6 soda lozenges, or until it's wit is at the level "Hero"
so far, it has successfully completed climb 9 out of 10 times, and it is only 3 months old now
I don't think the Wits stat is what keeps me from doing hard drills real young. It's the low gains from the normal growth pattern. Why waste lifespan for gains that are not significant?
Truthfully, I take the first few months and battle. The gains from winning a good tournament are noticeable. Once I am about to enter Prime, I head to Kawrea in Fall for ultimate life gain. Then in the Winter, head to Dendron. Great defense gains in the winter, right from the first 6 squares. After that, raise the primary combat stat since they usually gain the fastest. THis is where you want to use hard training.

off the bat - i got 16 pow from climb, about 1 month in....
i like to wait for drills, because it always seems low in comparison to heavy training up until it's prime...
i do think wits has to deal with heavy training success though... i can't prove it, but i don't think anyone can disprove it....

after my current monster retires, i shall do some testing
6 monsters of the exact same breed, 2 with wits from lozenges (6 each), 2 with wits from birth, and 2 with diminished wits (6 of whatever the item)
i will give them 5 months of training on the same heavy training (i will prolly choose climb) i will also feed them 1 honey shroom and 1 sea angel every week after the first week
after that i will post the results, see if there is an obvious difference (if this proves me wrong, ...then.... darn it!)
if you have anything to add to improve my "experiment", please do tell me, i want this to be accurate as possible
Don't get me wrong, Wits definitely has an effect on the success rate (for ALL training). However, the only way to get better actual results in the early stages is to train the primary stat and get Excellent results. I am going to peruse the perfect guide to see if it has a chart on fatigue and stress for each training type...
