Monster Rancher Metropolis: Monster Rancher DS Archive (DS): Monster Rancher DS: General QA: Kawrea / volcano drill seems to be highly exploitable.

One of the Volcano drill maps (I believe there's two) has a short straight-forward path that leads to a 3 by 3 set of blocks with a "extra rolls" block in the middle. Because it's 3x3 you can literally choose where to go every step, and if you're careful not to leave the 3x3 square you can get amazing gains.

Just make sure every time that you CAN land on the extra rolls block in the middle, do so. Several times I would land on it and roll a 6, allowing me to walk in a circle and land back on the rolls-gained block again.

My phoenix went in with 300 Life, 2 drills later 999 Life.

It's possible you'll get unlucky of course and land on the lose-roll blocks before getting to the 3x3 square, but I've been able to to get massive life gains consistently from it.

Remember, the maps change every season.

Ah, so then it's the seasons that make it change. Well during those seasons its a great way to pump up an errantry monster.

The guide recommends Spring as a truly epic gain map.

I just had a realy incredible trip to this map in fall, i took my SKILL from 352 to 917! This monster might finaly be able to beat that darn naga cup!

Oddly my monster came back just regular tired and stressed, i thought he was going to come back half dead to be honest.

When my phoenix did it he would come back with "Okay" status. One honey and sea angel and he was ready to go again.

Hehe... So that's where it was. I avoid Kawrea because I get enough lifegain from training at other sites that i don't need it. I only train at Kawrea if there's a skill to learn.

Tiredness seems to be related to how many "bad" tiles you land on, not how many rolls you take.

My fave is one of the Dendron maps(I think winter). There's a section of hallway where you can pace back and forth. It's a total of six tiles long and intersects two other hallways, but since it has vestigial ends you never need to leave. The hall has a +die tile at each end, 2 stat up tiles and 2 battle tiles. I once managed to get over 400 def points that way. :)

Oh and the stats of enemies in wild battles appears to be related to the official ranking of your monster. Thus even if your monster can beat S rank tournaments you'll still fight e-rank enemies in wild battles. Hehe.... I learned the hard way that doing drill sucks when you can't fight in tournaments of your level.
