Monster Rancher Metropolis: Monster Rancher DS Archive (DS): Monster Rancher DS: General QA: Starting Monsters By Thorr on Friday, August 6, 2010 - 02:43 pm:
One thing I remember about this game from the first time around was that it was hard to get a good starting monster. After doing a number of drawings, I find it to still be true. I am using the best I could find - Flazer (Tiger/Abyss) By VenomousX on Friday, August 6, 2010 - 03:15 pm:
I'm using a Flazer as well. Most of my monsters seem to be Pixies, moochis, suezos, bakus, lesiones, duckens, and that thing that hides in a pumpkin looking thing. By Thorr on Friday, August 6, 2010 - 03:29 pm: You couldn't get a beaclon or Naga anyway. They need to be unlocked. See MFDS2 for details. By 321228322 on Friday, August 6, 2010 - 04:29 pm:
Try combining to get a Modoki and the use that one to make a speci in the studio. By VenomousX on Friday, August 6, 2010 - 07:07 pm:
Ahh.. Well I assumed that Naga was available from the beginning like in MR2. Also Beaclon doesn't have any info at all about unlocking him (looking at the japanese archive) By Kitty Meow Meow on Friday, August 6, 2010 - 07:15 pm:
To make a Modoki, you can either randomly generate it at the shrine (I think?) or make a combination that doesn't exist. For example, I combined a Tiger and a Plant to make a Tiger/Plant monster, which became a Tiger-Modoki ("Tiger-ish", as it has been translated.) By VenomousX on Friday, August 6, 2010 - 07:25 pm:
So if you mixed, for example, a "tiger-ish" (Madoki/tiger?) with a pure-breed "Golem" you'd get a special "golem/?" By Kitty Meow Meow on Friday, August 6, 2010 - 07:28 pm:
I believe so, yes. By VenomousX on Friday, August 6, 2010 - 08:26 pm:
Alright thanks :) By Dragon Trainer on Saturday, August 7, 2010 - 06:28 am:
I also started with the Flazer.... By Thorr on Saturday, August 7, 2010 - 05:47 pm:
I can create a master list of all monsters that can be made by voice and those that can be made by Drawing. Voice and Drawing have no particular specials in them. They are completely mathematical. By Shen the Keeper on Sunday, August 8, 2010 - 01:53 pm:
I just tried the modoki combining for posterity sake. By NoxStryx on Sunday, August 8, 2010 - 02:36 pm:
I tried the modoki combining and got a By Thorr on Sunday, August 8, 2010 - 03:02 pm: For one thing, there is no dragon with a subtype of plant. Second, both monsters were modoki. That's 2 sybtypes of ?. The factors in that combination seem to lean toward a special monster. By NoxStryx on Sunday, August 8, 2010 - 03:44 pm:
I'm gonna experiment but i think it related to the By NoxStryx on Sunday, August 8, 2010 - 04:17 pm:
after some playing around looks like, no matter By Signtist on Monday, August 9, 2010 - 08:16 am: It says in the tutorial that shows up the first time you try to combine that a ??? monster will show up as a purebred monster when combining. That means a Golem/???, when combined, will look like a Golem/Golem. By Thorr on Monday, August 9, 2010 - 08:24 am: Yes, but if you use the Golem Subtype from a ???, it will pass on the ??? subtype. By Thorr on Monday, August 9, 2010 - 08:24 am: FWIW, I combined to Abyss-ish to get the Abyss/??? sepcial. By Kody on Monday, August 9, 2010 - 04:39 pm: I just combined a Centaur-ish with a pure Durahan and got the Durahan special Warrior Z, so its pretty safe to assume that using -ish monsters as the subs in combining grants specials. By marhawkman on Sunday, November 14, 2010 - 11:08 am:
Yeah I had the same results with a Pixie/Piroro and a Gali-ish. By marhawkman on Sunday, November 14, 2010 - 11:09 am:
Erm... by "same results" I meant that Pixie/Piroro + Gali-ish resulted in a Kasumi.
