I am working on the exact combo formula now. this is a work in progress but here is the start (I will continually refine this as I get better understanding) -
New Monsters Stats = (New Monster type's Base Stats) x (Loyalty Factor) + (Combined Monster's Inherited Stats) x (Compatibility Factor)

New Monster type's Base Stats = Book values of the monster you are creating

Loyalty Factor = If either monster has low loyalty, there will be a penalty. (In other words, they both have to be high in order to maintain their base stats)

Combined inherited stats = Average of the stats of the two monsters. This average changes according to how you arrange the main and sub breeds. For best results, use the main breeds of each monster as the new monster's main and sub breeds.

Compatibility Factor = 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5
1) Breed compatibility bonus

2) Loyalty factor -
Bonus - Both are top level
Penalty - both are lowest level

3) Sensitivity Factor
Bonus - Both are High
Penalty - Both are Low

4) Leniency Factor -
Bonus - If both are Sweet not Spoiled
Penalty - If one of the monsters is Spoiled or Abused

5) Weight Factor -
Bonus - If both are muscular, but not fat
Penalty - if either is Fat or Skinny

It looks like Age and Rank are not factors. However, the paragraph above the formula in the guide says something about 'D rank' in the last sentence.

Well, it's about time. Where's the mailman been?

I wouldn't be surprised if my Green Suezo and Pixie had a low compatibility factor overall. They were at fairly different life stages, and had different temperaments (Green Suezo frequently and persistently cheated, Pixie almost never did). I'll keep a close watch on my monsters' weight, leniency and sensitivity from now on.

One question. Why are there two loyalty penalties?

By Thorr on Thursday, September 18, 2008 - 09:46 am:

I haven't received my book yet. I am doing this using the scans you sent me.

The loyalty factors are both slightly different.
The first loyalty factor is a direct modification of the base stats and looks at the total loyalty of both monsters. The lower the total, the lower the base stats from the book level.
The second loyalty factor is single bonus/penalty on the bonus portion. If both are very high, you will get a bonus. You will only get a penalty if they are both very low.

So, you want your loylaty high in order to establish your maximum Base. If the two monsters are high enough, you will garner a bonus too.

I have not gotten my book yet, either. -So it's not just you. I'm also waaaay behind you in playing the game.

My book finally arrived. I'll be going through it to find more pieces of pertinent information.

By GM on Monday, September 22, 2008 - 05:07 am:

Congratulations! I recommend you check out the monster section when you can. There are some numbers there I'm curious about.

I won't be getting much done in the way of MFDS2 this week what with Mega Man 9 coming out in a few hours. But when I find the time to break away from it, I'll try and get back to work.

By Thorr on Monday, September 22, 2008 - 05:09 am:

What numbers specifically...??

By Thorr on Monday, September 22, 2008 - 05:12 am:

and which monster section? The Main Breed info or the specific monster info?

By GM on Monday, September 22, 2008 - 06:12 am:

The specific monster info, where it says 1-6 for Green Suezo. That data.

By Thorr on Monday, September 22, 2008 - 06:17 am:

Ah. Yes, that was one of my first confusing points too. However, it turns out to be pretty simple. I will be posting a chart translation in about 2 minutes.
