Monster Data

Monster Rancher Metropolis: Monster Rancher DS Archive (DS): Japanese DS Games Archive: Monster Farm DS: Misc. Q&A (post all new topics here, we'll make more sections later): Monster Data

Ok, I have a template for presenting the monster data found in the Perfect Guide. My thought for presenting the information is this -

1) Under the FAQ Section, I will create a section for Monster data.

2) Make a Post for all 24 Base Breeds
3) Each post will contain the Information for the base breed (Tech gaining list, breed trait, availability, training tendencies) and the data block for all the sub breeds.

I will start with Abisu as a sample and see how it works.

Sounds good to me. We'll see how it goes.

I'll have it up shortly.

First example posted

Very nice. Looks alright to me.

I'd personally type out Availability completely, though, as opposed to shortening it, and Abisu-Modoki should spelled with the hyphen. Aside from that, it looks just fine.

Added template for food/treat likes and dislikes

Note on the techniques list -

The techniques each have a name, but it's really not worth translating. The Class column shows Basic Strong and Unique.
Basic moves are moves that most breeds can acquire. These would be things like Claw, Bite, Kick, etc.
Strong moves are advanced techs that are less common amongst other breeds.
Unique moves are techs that only this particular breed can acquire.

The Final column shows where you must train in order to acquire the Tech. I am not sure if techs have to be acquired sequentially, but I doubt it. Rank -does- figure into it, though, since you have to be of certain ranks to train in certain locations.

Looks very good, thanks!

Your note on the techs list, I would cut and paste it and use it as an 'announcement' on the index page for Monster Data. (See the MR2 CD list for an example of an announcement.) You can post any other tips for reading your charts in this manner, and will probably cut down on questions we get later.

Will do!

Looking even better now.

Regarding the likes/dislikes table, I think the current layout of dislikes immediately following likes is a bit crude-looking, especially since the breeds apparently have only one significant dislike. It would look much better if you had the likes and dislikes on separate lines.

By Thorr on Thursday, January 31, 2008 - 05:02 am:

It's a linear chart. It's copied exactly the way it shows in the book. The line of items from left to right go from Like the most to Hate the most. This applies to the treats line and then the food line.
Like<------------Indifferent----------->Dislike

The whole layout for the main breed info is copied exactly as shown in the guide. It's much easier on me to translate them when I have a direct visual reference.

Ah, pardon me. I didn't realize that. I somehow thought it was two individual lists of likes and dislikes.

In that case, it makes perfect sense. Might want to make a note about it, though.

Will do :)
