Here are the results of Praise/Scolding for deviations from Success

Based on these values, it seems that Mental Failure and Physical
Failure equate to the failures from the previous games in which the
monster was lax and/or chickened out and was unable to complete
the training, but put an effort, respectively, whereas Success?
equates to Cheat. They make it pretty clear regardless of whether
or not you skip the training skit, so it's easy to tell.

The book lists likely reasons for Physical Failure being -
Slow Growth
Over-fatigued
Low aptitude for that Stat
