The Perfect Guide has tips scattered throughout the book. I will use this thread to translate them.

Monster Communication

Don't do anything on your farm for a while. Your monster's Icon will start blinking. RUB the monster with the stylus and a "!" will appear. This means your monster is really happy. It's Sensitivity is up.

Basically, when your monster's icon is blinking, Pet it! Then train it when you see the '!' appear. If you are petting the monster, you will hear it respond. It only takes a second or 2 to get the ! mark. I have noticed a few extra points on stat gains. I wonder if this is effective when you go to learn a new technique...

The Effects of Training

When your monster is spoiled, there will be times when your monster refuses to train. If you make it do the training anyway, Leniency, Stress, and Sensitivity are affected - Leniency 2-, Stress 3+, Sensitivity 2-. Too much pampering is bad because stress increases greatly when you make it do what it doesn't want to. Your training policy whouls be adjusted accordingly.

Wow, that's neat. There are so many nifty little subtleties in this
game. I can only imagine what they can do with the eventual
sequel.

Sensitivity might be what Ruriru is referring to when she says my monster feels good (along with the other things she says at the beginning of the week). I've also had her say it when my monster had a "normal" sensitivity, though, so I'm not sure.

What exactly does it mean when my monster "feels good", other than the obvious?

No, you are far from the truth.

The message you refer to is the Monster Rancher -standard- message for every week where you are told how WELL RESTED your monster is.
