I just got my copy of the Monster Farm 2 Soundtrack (from otaku.com), and it had a little bonus CD packed in it. There was also a sticker on the outer cellophane that said (in Japanese) "Kin-zo CD inside" over a picture of a suezo with some markings on its brow, and a CD for the pupil of the eye. So anyway, I open it, and inside is a full sized music CD (with a cute pixie picture on it) plus a mini CD that just has the disc art on it like the Monster Farm game. (Essentially it looks like a tiny disc stone in silver and teal, MF1 had the same art in silver and black.)

Inside the case's back cover are instructions on how to make a Gold Suezo from a Bronze and Silver Suezo. Anyway, I fired up MR2, and both discs made fairly common monsters. (soundtrack: Ape/Hare, minidisc: Zuum/Suezo) Then I tried MF2, and the soundtrack is a locked breed (I haven't unlocked anything in MF2...) but the minidisc made a Gold Suezo!

So, we now know for certain that the Gold can be made in MF2 by both combining and off CD. I therefore still hold out hope of finding Gold Suezo on a CD in MR2.

For the curious, the soundtrack is a normal game-type soundtrack with 43 short tracks from the game. The minidisc has 4 montage tracks. The first is about 4 minutes of MF/MR1 music. The second, about 4 minutes of MF2/MR2 music. The third, about 5 minutes of MFBCepII/MRBCepII music. The fourth track is a really fun 13 seconds of monsters roaring, giggling, growling, moaning, etc. from all three games.

According to Brian at Tecmo, their master list just says "OPM" as what makes this monster. I own all the OPM discs except #1, and thought I had shrined them all, to no avail. I would have thought other people would have tried these too. This monster may have somehow fallen through the cracks in terms of production, since they went nuts trying to remove PS support in this game, and had to drop other projects.

Anyway, can someone try OPM #1?

OPM?

By John Hawley on Saturday, June 14, 2003 - 04:18 am:

That's shorthand for "Official Playstation Magazine". I, too, have tried all the discs from that era except for number 1. Never found a copy to try.

Hmmmm, now why didn't we think of that? ; )

I guess I should break down and order the issue from OPM itself. I kept hoping to get a copy at a reduced price on ebay, but it never seems to happen.

oh yeah, I am deleting the Striesand CD from the CD, it's officially a hoax now...

There's also a band called OPM, but the earliest CD I can find from them is from 2000, a year after MR2 was out.

Ok, I got OPM #1 and it does not make a Gold Suezo. I shrined all my OPMs up to where our CD list posts catch up, (we had listings starting with #34 and all issues thereafter) and none of them make it either. However, I realised that I do not own OPM #2. Sorry about the oversight, does anyone else have it?

John just said he had all but #1.

By John Hawley on Monday, July 28, 2003 - 02:43 am:

Having it and finding it are two different things...

By Brick on Monday, December 29, 2003 - 10:38 pm:

Well, I know it's been a pretty long time, but I'm curious... Did you ever find it, John?

By John Hawley on Wednesday, December 31, 2003 - 07:57 am:

Yes and No. Found I did have a copy of one, but now number 2 is missing. And the search goes on...

By Lisa Shock on Sunday, January 4, 2004 - 09:10 pm:

I just realised that we have it listed already. OPM #2 makes Kato/Kato.
So, I now suspect that it's a combo-only monster.
Until anyone can prove otherwise (by providing subcode), Gold Suezo will be considered a combination-only monster.
