Monster Rancher Metropolis: Monster Rancher 2 Archive (PSOne): Shrine Topics: CDs & Slating: That Crazy Monol! (All Stats at 25) By Lisa Shock on Monday, January 22, 2001 - 10:52 pm:
Here's a bit of analysis for those curious about the Monol/Golem from the Def Leppard Greatest Hits Vault CD.
I then decided to see what kind of lifespan one from CD has, so I raised it (liked play, disliked meat) with the following method: LD,LD/mint,Rest (I tried very hard on this, but may have missed a feeding or two!) extra mint on every week 4 1 smoked snake per year No Battles, Expeditions or Errantry I was trying for maximum lifespan! Scold on Failure 50% of the time (fisrt scolding on second failure) Scold all Cheating Fed Tabs No Peaches used No Gameshark use All told, it asked to play twice (the second time two weeks before death) got a lot of Greats, always got +1 on Lif Drills. It lived 8 years, 6 months, 3 weeks. This is unusually high! A Monol/Golem should have a standard 370 week lifespan, off CD they may have (according to DP) up to 30 weeks more; which would total 400. (400 weeks ÷ 48 = 8.33333years) Final stats: 283,313,324,336,279,362 Overall, I think it's a pretty strong monster. Since I never used Nuts Oil or Hard Drills, I cannot be certain how well it could have done, but it certainly has a great lifespan and had very good stat gains in prime. It got lots of Greats in all stages and seemed to have a natural life progression. Confirmed by Hengersrock: Lifespan: 410 weeks Statgain: 233324 Nature: Neutral Guts Regen: 16 +1 in Life In Monster Farm 2, the Japanese version of the game, which was released about 6 months earlier than the US version, this CD makes a Gaboo/Jell. It has 2 basic techs and the following stats:
So, it looks like this disc, or one with the same TOC info, was a "joker disc" for the US market only. By torey_luvullo on Tuesday, January 23, 2001 - 05:15 am:
great work lisa! interesting that it would have arbitrary beginning stats and arbitrary ending of life different from others of its type. By Lisa Shock on Tuesday, January 23, 2001 - 01:39 pm: Yes, I wonder if it's just a coincidence (some sort of convergence of possibilities on the monster creation-from-CD chart) or a deliberate prank by the programmers especially for this CD? By Jello on Tuesday, January 23, 2001 - 02:45 pm:
Maybe. I think you did a wonderful job raising By Nate Railsback on Thursday, January 25, 2001 - 03:10 pm: By Lisa Shock on Thursday, January 25, 2001 - 05:13 pm:
