Temporary thread for lifespans

Monster Rancher Metropolis: Monster Rancher 4 Archive (PS2): Miscellaneous Q&A (Post New Questions Here) : Temporary thread for lifespans
By Infernus on Monday, July 26, 2004 - 06:49 pm:

We seriously need to get these done, and with the ability to do 5 at once, it should be THAT hard.

Anyway, just some simple guidlines:
1: Make sure they are born on week 1 of any given month
2: Feed them on week 4. When they get fat/chubby, feed on week 2 and 4. You should use the more standard foods, i.e carrots, potatos, mangos.
3: Rest all their lives
4: Record all stages (you'll know by the statements). Record the week you are going to in the age. So, if you get the message as you are entering week 4, and your monster is 10 months old, the age for stage 2 is 10mo4wk.

I'll be posting later today most likely, so it should be more clear as to what you are supposed to do. I am currently working on Durahan, Beaklon, Dragon, Baku, and Ducken. As far as I know, Dark Palidan may be doing Golem, Zuum, Mew, Hare, and Tiger.

Remember, you can do 1 monster at a time and still train 4...

Pures only...for now. Post what you are doing before you start...

I *sort of* changed it from previous tests, on the week of death, if it was 1, rather than put a 0, I put a 1, you just have to remember that that's the week it dies!

By Petit-Trot on Sunday, August 29, 2004 - 10:41 am:

I'm starting an Antlan.

By King Bunny on Friday, September 17, 2004 - 06:12 pm:

Is DP a no go? Seeing as how "he's lost interest in MR and has to keep people waiting to enter tournies" ...

By Infernus on Friday, September 17, 2004 - 06:15 pm:

All ranchers read!

You have five slots for monsters! Start one! Or two! If ten of you do two, that's thirty breeds done (including PT's Antlan and my latest project)! Let's stop being lazy and get this out of the way.

I've set up the section. I will add what's been done later. Blah blah blah. I've started a Joker. It will take me forever. I declare the one's DP said he would do open. It's not going to get done (he's given up MR).

Pixie, Phoenix, or Henger, will be added, but marked, as they were done before we had clear rules for this. May have to re-do them sometime.

By Infernus on Saturday, September 18, 2004 - 10:32 pm:

Why are no hands popping up like crazy? Anyone? Come on! Hey, you! *grabs someone who looks over the topic* Read this! *shoves persons face in it* Now, go do something about it.

Haha, I'm hilarious. Anyway, I got a nice little sleep and am back from a day-long trip. In other words, I actually added what's been done.

By Petit-Trot on Sunday, September 19, 2004 - 08:26 am:

I'm almost finished with the antlan.

By Iron_Datu on Sunday, September 19, 2004 - 09:11 pm:

I will work on Golem, Zuum, Tiger, Hare and Mew within the week. If anyone else has started or has objections please inform me.

By Petit-Trot on Monday, September 20, 2004 - 05:22 pm:

Cool.

By Infernus on Friday, September 24, 2004 - 02:23 pm:

Great work, Iron. It's nice to see that some of us have a little incentive. I'll add that ASAP.

By Infernus on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 07:08 pm:

Joker is up. I'm going to do another one, but I don't know which one yet. I'll keep you informed.

By Petit-Trot on Sunday, October 10, 2004 - 02:01 pm:

Antlan is done. I'm starting an Ogyo.

By Infernus on Friday, October 15, 2004 - 03:31 pm:

Gitan, Lesione, Koropendora, Mocchi, Mogi.

I hope to have them up this weekend, but there are no guarantees.

By Iron_Datu on Saturday, October 16, 2004 - 03:36 am:

Yahoo! I'm done with my exams. Will post the results for lifespan tests in a day or two.

By Infernus on Monday, October 18, 2004 - 05:05 pm:

I am so sorry. I have 3 tests tomorrow and need my time to do work, as well as study. I'm hoping tomorrow will be clear to do the bit I have left.

By Infernus on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 - 04:51 pm:

Did I mention? They're up. Sorry that took so long.

By Krysis Adelis on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 - 07:07 pm:

Alright, working on pancho, plant, raiden, rhinoroller, and suzurin. Wish me luck!

By Infernus on Thursday, October 21, 2004 - 07:51 pm:

And they're up. Suezo, Zan, and the three Apes for pures are all that are technically left. On to the subs.

Great work!

By Iron_Datu on Saturday, October 23, 2004 - 09:40 am:

Sorry for delay, I am halfway through. I will post results soon.

By Krysis Adelis on Saturday, October 23, 2004 - 04:14 pm:

Yes, I was bad. I forgot to note here that I was working on the Suezo, Zan and three Joker subs. But now that they are done, I might as well post them. Enjoy!

Zan, 10m1wk, 1y11m1w, 3y0m1w, 3y9m4w, 4y1m1w

Pixie/Joker, 9mo3wk, 1y9m4w, 2y10m2w, 3y7m3w, 3y10m4w

Suezo, 10m3wk, 2y0m2w, 3y2m1w, 4y0m2w, 4y3m4w

By Infernus on Saturday, October 23, 2004 - 04:18 pm:

I made an oops. The fact that KA here did a Zan was entirely my fault. Iron, I encourage to still post your results. A double test can't hurt.

By Infernus on Saturday, October 23, 2004 - 05:59 pm:

I've updated the list to an extreme extent. Thanks to Krysis Adelis, we have the sub-breed formula. Once Ripper, Ogyo, Madillo, Naga, Garu, Zan, Jell, and the three Apes are up, this project is complete (with the exception of specials). Beautiful.

Ripper and the three Apes are the ones not being worked on right now. I plan to start them eventually, but am pre-occupied atm. If anyone volunteers to start before I do, go right ahead.

By Pattongeneral on Saturday, October 23, 2004 - 07:44 pm:

I'll get started on Ripper, Ogyo, Madillo, Naga, and Jell. I should have them up by the end of the weekend.

By Pattongeneral on Saturday, October 23, 2004 - 07:46 pm:

oops, re-read the posts.....I don't have to apes, but I will do the Ripper

By Infernus on Saturday, October 23, 2004 - 08:13 pm:

Want to do some specials to?

By Pattongeneral on Sunday, October 24, 2004 - 03:34 pm:

depends....I don't have all of them

By Pattongeneral on Sunday, October 24, 2004 - 03:46 pm:

I'm currently working on DriviDillo, OwlDen, and HipMew

By King Bunny on Sunday, October 24, 2004 - 06:37 pm:

I will try and do White Mocchi, Devi, Clown Lessie, the red antlan (for get it's name, not the ranger), and nightsickle. I probably won't get around to this for over 2 weeks yet. In that time, anyone else who really wants to do them can, however, I will do these if no one else does so by that time.

By Iron_Datu on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 - 10:12 am:

I have no problem with doing the Zan. Anyway, I have been a bit busy lately with non MR related things (a.k.a my life as a law student) I am in the 3rd year of the lifepan test and despite a sprained thumb (don't ask) I will post by tommorrow evening.

By Iron_Datu on Saturday, October 30, 2004 - 08:29 pm:

Here are the results. Note that the results for the Zan posted by Krysis Adelis are confirmed by the test I completed.

By Infernus on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 - 04:52 pm:

Iron_Datu, something is wrong with Jell. Stage four and five read the same. Please correct this.

I hope to begin the Apes this week, as well as two undecided rares.

Oh, and, updated.

By Iron_Datu on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 - 03:43 am:

Mea Culpa. It should be:

Jell- Xi
Birth: 12/1
Stage 2: 10 Mo 2 Wk
Stage 3: 2 yrs 0 Mo 1 Wk
Stage 4: 3 Yrs 1 Mo 4 Wk
Stage 5: 3 Yrs 11 Mo 4 Wk
Retirement: 4 Yrs 3 Mo 1 Wk

By Infernus on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 - 02:58 pm:

Fixed.

By Infernus on Friday, November 5, 2004 - 02:06 pm:

Might be wise to note that my choices for two rares were Kirin and Gameprobot.

By Infernus on Sunday, December 5, 2004 - 08:59 pm:

This is bumped. King, pattongeneral, are you two really busy, or can we expect the monsters?

Oh...what's that? Me? I'm really busy as of late, so sorry. I'll get around to it.

By King Bunny on Friday, December 10, 2004 - 05:43 pm:

Sorry. I've got several projects as well as exams coming up and I need to get studying.
On top of which, I've been fired and am looking for a job.

By Flamehawke on Friday, July 8, 2005 - 10:22 pm:

I thought since they are not done or completed I could do Ogyo and Ripper. At least they are not in the chart. Please correct me if I am wrong about this.

By Pattongeneral on Friday, July 8, 2005 - 10:58 pm:

Right after I posted that, my schedule got hit really hard. I'll see what I can do.

By joenuts on Friday, October 14, 2005 - 07:16 am:

I have a question about the lifespans for sub-breeds. In the FAQ->Lifespans it states "For monsters with sub breeds, the lifespan formula is Main+Main+Sub=#, then #/3". Where is the Sub number supplied? For instance, if I raise a durahan/dragon, lifespan would be 216 weeks + 196 weeks + ??? = magic number, then divide magic number by 3 to get total life span. I'm a bit confused, is it something that I'm completely missing? Thanks

By Lisa Shock on Friday, October 14, 2005 - 11:21 am:

Sub is shorthand for sub-breed, in this case Dragon is your sub. Your main is Durahan.

By Apocalypse on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 - 03:30 pm:

I can do a PandiBaku but Im slow it will probably take me about 3 weeks.

By Infernus on Thursday, October 20, 2005 - 12:18 pm:

If you do it, I thank you. Just make sure you do it the same as everyone else.

There will be at least 5 new ones up this weekend. (Ogyo, Ripper, Gadgeter G, ChaosDragon, and Dino).

By Apocalypse on Friday, October 21, 2005 - 09:08 am:

Wasn't so bad!

Birth 5/1
Stage 2: 8 mo 4wks
Stage 3: 1yr 2mo 4wks
Stage 4: 3yr 2mo 4wks
Stage 5: 4yr 1mo 2wks
Death: 4yr 4mo 3wks

Apparently he has a 3 month shorter life than Baku/Baku

I wish I could help more but my only other rare is Kirin.

By Infernus on Sunday, October 23, 2005 - 02:58 pm:

Thanks Apocalypse.

Due to circumstances beyond my control (small trip, family visit, community service hours, and a school project), you're all going to have to wait until tuesday/wednesday for mine. It's importance level has been lowered.

By Apocalypse on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 - 01:33 pm:

Whatever happened to this? I do not have a main breed Ogyo but I do have a ripper. Should I get to work or has it been done?

By Petit-Trot on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 - 06:40 pm:

Go for it.

By Apocalypse on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 - 07:03 pm:

Okay I'll get started today.

By Seize on Sunday, February 3, 2008 - 02:35 pm:

Hello, I thought I would try to help fill in a few holes in the FAQ lifespan section.

Ogyo
Stage 2: 10m 4w
Stage 3: 2y 1m 1w
Stage 4: 3y 3m 2w
Stage 5: 4y 2m 1w
End: 4y 5m 3w

Ripper
Stage 2: 10m 1w
Stage 3: 1y 11m 1w
Stage 4: 3y 0m 1w
Stage 5: 3y 9m 4w
End: 4y 1m 1w

RedShortsApe
Stage 2: 10m 4w
Stage 3: 2y 0m 4w
Stage 4: 3y 2m 4w
Stage 5: 4y 1m 2w
End: 4y 4m 3w

Joker (the error control)
Stage 2: 8m 1w
Stage 3: 1y 6m 3w
Stage 4: 2y 5m 2w
Stage 5: 3y 1m 1w
End: 3y 3m 4w

The joker's life matched previous findings.

In the 4+ years of resting I managed to finish getting all 4 of the "girl friends."

Yuri in Togle
Readme in Ryuwn
Chiho in Torble
Laurier in Vizley

Just as posted I got them in that order by spending every available weekend visiting and talking to them. Their apearance changed and so did their responces when you talk to them (although only slightly). It should be noted that my breeder fame is not 100 everywhere so it is safe to say fame is not a factor.

Also of note:
I "trained" (more like rested) all four of the monsters together with no gadgets or affects on the ranch, and at the same starting time.

I only fed them mushrooms when all four reached "OK" (instead of "lively"). This is about 4 weeks of no feeding followed by one week of food. They all stayed Normal Form until 3 years at which point all four became "Chubby" the next time I fed them I fed all four vitamins instead of mushrooms. Then they were all normal and I fed them mushrooms just as before. At 4y and 2m the two remaining monsters (Ape and Ogyo) became chubby and I fed them vitamins a second and final time. This didn't have any affect on the Jokers life and I only spent about $6,000 on food this way. They spent nearly their entire lives Normal form and Lenient.

I also watched their friendships which were all "Great friends" by 2y 0m 2w but never became "Best friends". The joker and ripper who were both "Cool" monsters always became the next level of friends before the others joined them.

Hope this helps and the lifespan table gets completed!

By Lisa Shock on Monday, February 4, 2008 - 09:44 am:

Thanks! I'll try to get the chart completed soon!

By Lisa Shock on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 09:42 am:

Ok, well thanks everyone! I am closing this thread now.
