Every region's overview map and close-up of searchable locations.
Are you ready for Ran Ran?
- In Monster Rancher 3 the Expeditions (as they were called in Monster Rancher 1 & 2) are called Ran Ran adventures.
- You can hold down R1 or R2 to get a far away view while on Adventure.
- You can give the items you find to any other monster later.
What to get and How to get it
Be Patient - Some locations during Ran Ran Adventure require you to search them several times before finding what may be there.- Bits, Stones*, and Orbs provide Techs (attacks) for your monster!
- Bits are acquired on Ran Ran adventures at "Bad Feeling" spots.
- Orbs are acquired during Ran Ran adventures by KOing non-locale monster encounters with a C+ Class monster at "Bad Feeling" spots (Fleria will not have a bad feeling when this happens).

Short Story:
- Bug exists in v1.0
- Bug fixed in v1.1
The Details:
There was extensive documentation of the bug when the game initially came out, but as people streamed the game many years later, the bug seemed non-existent, and was being dismissed as an issue that could be worked around.
THE only workaround for v1.0 games is reverting a save state and not lose to Gadamon. There is no workaround.
However, another version of the game was released. The bug is fixed in v1.1.
A few ways to differentiate between v1.0 and v1.1 games/discs:
- Visual indicator on the disc is the print quality of the disc face.
- Version 1.0 has a printing error where NO white base layer is used and you can see directly through to the disk's foil (Easiest place to see this is the ESRB Rating near the center) Some perceive this to resemble a hologram effect.
- Version 1.1 has a white base layer that the art is printed on. You cannot see the disk foil through the opaque white base layer.
- In-game discrepancies of typo/text indicators within the games corresponding to the image above:
- v1.0
- Disk Swap Process has no space between Rancher & 3:
- "Do you wish to revive a monster from" - "The Monster Rancher3 Disc?"
- Item Description of Glowing Rock in the shop:
- "Its beautiful glimmer calms the heart of a monster.Shining Rock"
- Disk Swap Process has no space between Rancher & 3:
- v1.1
- Disk Swap Process is spaced correctly between Rancher & 3:
- "Do you wish to revive a monster from" - "The Monster Rancher 3 Disc?"
- Item Description of Glowing Rock in the shop:
- "Its beautiful glimmer calms the heart of a monster."
- Disk Swap Process is spaced correctly between Rancher & 3:

- Some cheat codes only work on a particular version. Usually you'll see the version listed in the Cheat comment or on the site.

A "prime adventure" is a rotating spot in one of the five regions in the game. throughout the year, one region has "better" adventure rewards, including monster accessories and characteristics (like Sharp Eye, Iron Heart, Element Secrets, etc). The location also seems have a higher wild monster encounter rate. There isn't much more to it than that, and there's no in-game indication. I only discovered it because when I would train a monster in the same region its entire life, I would do a lot of venture save/loading to get good rewards. But I would go many ventures never finding any accessories or critters for characteristics. Sometimes though, reloading for a particular venture (every, say, 4 or 5 ventures it seems) would lead to me actually finding characteristics and sometimes accessories.
On a recent play-through, I investigated it more and discovered the pattern that led to EVERY venture being able to yield those rewards, and ended up finding all accessories for monsters I was raising quite quickly overall, compared to my previous playthrough where I almost never found any.
Anyways, the prime venture schedule is as follows, based on the last digit of the in-game year:
Last digit of Year | 4th week Save | RanRan Month | Prime Venture | Secondary venture |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 or 6 | Feb | Mar | Kalaragi | Morx |
1 or 6 | May | Jun | Takrama | Brillia |
1 or 6 | Aug | Sep | Goat | Kalaragi |
1 or 6 | Nov | Dec | Morx | Takrama |
2 or 7 | Feb | Mar | Brillia | Goat |
2 or 7 | May | Jun | Kalaragi | Morx |
2 or 7 | Aug | Sep | Takrama | Brillia |
2 or 7 | Nov | Dec | Goat | Kalaragi |
3 or 8 | Feb | Mar | Morx | Takrama |
3 or 8 | May | Jun | Brillia | Goat |
3 or 8 | Aug | Sep | Kalaragi | Morx |
3 or 8 | Nov | Dec | Takrama | Brillia |
4 or 9 | Feb | Mar | Goat | Kalaragi |
4 or 9 | May | Jun | Morx | Takrama |
4 or 9 | Aug | Sep | Brillia | Goat |
4 or 9 | Nov | Dec | Kalaragi | Morx |
5 or 0 | Feb | Mar | Takrama | Brillia |
5 or 0 | May | Jun | Goat | Kalaragi |
5 or 0 | Aug | Sep | Morx | Takrama |
5 or 0 | Nov | Dec | Brillia | Goat |
Prime Venture location progression:
Morx → Brillia → Kalaragi → Takrama → Goat → Morx
So a prime venture in Morx means the secondary venture is in Takrama (Counting reverse from Right to Left starting at Morx).
Secondary ventures, in my much more limited testing, only offer up critters that give personality characteristics (like perfectionist, directionless, etc), as opposed to the prime venture critters that give functional characteristics (Iron Heart, Element Secrets, etc) and illnesses (like migraine).
For what it's worth, I also think certain characteristics can only be found in certain locations. I've seen Sharp Eyes pop up numerous times in Kalaragi, but never in Takrama. However, I've found Fire Secrets and Lightning Secrets multiple times in Takrama, while I've seen Wind and Earth Secrets in Kalaragi
