Monster Rancher 2 Expedition Maps
Expeditions are key for unlocking several monsters, hold special items to feed to your monster, or to use in combining, and can be a great source of income as well. This guide will detail out the expedition paths, obstacles and requirements to traverse each area, along with which locations have what items.DX ONLY: Important Expedition Info
If you start an expedition with 0-Stress / 0-Fatigue (resting on week 4 into week 1), you will return to the ranch the following month having "aged" 4 weeks, but only lost 2 weeks of lifespan... 1 from the Rest week, and 1 from the Fatigue breaching 70.
Having a dedicated expedition monster, you can artificially age this monster by double the amount of remaining lifespan weeks it has left.
This is a typical schedule of a dedicated expedition monster:
- Start expedition with 0-Stress/0-Fatigue wk1
- Go on expedition
- Return wk1 (with 70 fatigue) and Feed a monthly item that reduces Stress (or just as long as it does not increase stress)
- Optionally you can Feed Nuts Oil but it is not needed as long as Stress is kept at 0. Even if fatigue reaches 100, it's the same lifespan hit as 70 fatigue.
- Freeze.
- Bring out Wk4 prior to next expedition/Save > Rest into Week 1
- -- Repeat
MR2DX Expeditions are a massively more efficient means for money farming (money earned per lifespan week) when compared to Battles, which age it by 1 week while losing 4 weeks of lifespan.
ALWAYS SAVE BEFORE EXPEDITION!
- Finding specific Items is based on a mix of INT/SKI/Nature and IS NOT 100% guaranteed even with high stats!
- Reset if you do not find what you are looking for and try again.
- For fully datamined information, please see the "Detailed Tables".

There are many misconceptions about how often the Gold Peach can be found, or how many, such as "It can only find 1 every 10 years". This is not true.
Every year you can visit Parepare and attempt to acquire a Gold Peach(es). It can be found only in the Tusk Tower, which has 4 nodes, each of which has a 12% to 18% chance that one is a peach. It is possible, though rare, that every node can be a Gold Peach. It is also possible that none will be a Gold Peach. This can be save-scummed if you save prior to going on expedition.
Also of note; While any monster can find many peaches over their lifetime, in MR2 a monster can only be fed 1 Gold Peach.

Expeditions in Monster Rancher 2 are a carry-over from MR1, wherein your monster goes on an adventure of sorts where it can discover useful items which are key to unlocking several monsters, or are in general not obtainable otherwise. Expeditions will always be initiated on the same month and week of a given year if your monster meets the requirements, and you can either choose to go or to decline. How effective your monster will be on the expedition is dependent only on their stats, and very slightly on their nature- breed has no effect other than ease of stat acquisition. Your monster must return to base camp to properly end the expedition.
Your monsters stats affect Expedition in the following ways:
- If your inventory is full when you pick up an item on an Expedition, and you would prefer to throw away this new item, press Triangle (/\) to select it. This works in all "items full but new item acquired" situations as well.
- Shortcuts remain open between Expeditions, even if the current monster lacks the INT.
- You can only find Disc Chip variants of breeds you have already unlocked.
- Every step taken costs 1 Energy, and each trip into a location costs 10 Energy.
- Each attempt to get rid of an obstacle costs 5 Energy.
- Expeditions give +72 fatigue at the end if finished normally, but no stress.
- If you’re forced to end the expedition, the lifespan hit is -13 weeks!
- Items which are listed in the maps below do not appear 100% of the time, as there’s also some random element in whether an item decides to show up. Just be aware that items your monster does not meet the Intelligence requirement for will never show up!
The same item can be found in a building more than once. There are some items that are "special" that cannot be found more than once in the game, though.
Special Items:
These special items will be replaced at the time of the duplicate special item being found:
- "Old Sheath"
- "Mask"
- "Big Footstep"
- "Fire Feather"
- "Strong Glue"
Disc Chips:
The Disc Chips can only be found if the corresponding monster has been unlocked in the game.
If the monster has not been unlocked, then the Disc Chips item will be replaced at the time of the locked Disc Chips item being found.
Replacement items:
Duplicate Special, or Locked items will be replaced randomly with one of following three items:
- Half-eaten
- Irritater
- Mint Leaf
- Alchius' Map breakdowns
- SmilingFaces96's data mined information
- Taylor's original Maps & Legends
