Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher In-Game Guide

The beginner's guide to Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher and in-game guide tutorial transcription. This is perfect for a complete breakdown of the basics without spoiling too much when compared to the other technical data and guides on LegendCup.

Game Play
Basic Controls:
    Ultra Kaiju Basic Controls
Game Flow:
  • You, the protagonist, are a rookie Kaiju breeder. Raise strong Kaiju, achieve victory in tournaments, and earn the rank of Master breeder!
  • Obtain Kaiju at the altar, and raise them at the ranch. Have your Kaiju participate in tournaments once they're strong enough! You can earn prizes and the like by winning tournaments.
Path to Mastery 1: Kaiju
  • First, take a second to decide which Kaiju you'd like to raise.

The Kaiju you can regenerate will differ depending on the Memory Boards you scan or the source music chosen. Even if you end up with the same Kaiju, the Memory Boards or music chosen can change its starting stats quite drastically.

  • Various variables may lead to vastly different end results, even with the same Memory Board.

Try out a bunch of Memory Boards and keywords until you find a Kaiju that's right for you!

Path to Mastery 2: Traits
  • Giving your Kaiju traits at the cookie shop lets you make good use of their characteristics.

Picking traits that fit a Kaiju's stat growths and techniques will give you a leg up in both training and real battles!

  • Just as importantly, make sure not to give your Kaiju pointless traits. For example, assigning a fire-boosting trait to a Kaiju without fire techniques will have no effect.

As your Kaiju grows, it can hold up to four traits. Be sure to head to the cookie shop once its birthday comes up!

Path to Mastery 3: Stats
  • Drills and errantries raise different stats. Pick carefully based on which stats you're looking to boost. Also, stats with high stat growth values are easier to raise. Focus on training compatible stats in the early stages to raise your Kaiju efficiently!
  • There are many routes for growth. Developing strengths or evenly raising all stats aren't the only ways forward. If your attacks don't land often, raise Skill; if you have lots of techs that use intelligence, raise Intelligence. Adjust your strategy as your Kaiju or circumstances may require.
Path to Mastery 4: Techs
  • Errantry lets your Kaiju learn new techniques. Learn techs with varying range and accuracy to handle a diverse array of situations.
  • The techs available to learn vary with each errantry partner. Win tournaments against rival breeders to add them to the errantry roster. Repeated errantries with the same breeder will make their techniques easier to learn.
Path to Mastery 5: Fusion
  • Use fusion to create and raise stronger Kaiju. Some techs and stats can be inherited through fusion. That being said, fusing Kaiju that haven't been raised well won't result in a strong Kaiju.
  • All Kaiju have a competitive lifespan. They can't grow anymore past said lifespan, putting a limit on how strong they can become. That being said, fusing two Kaiju that have been raised strong will pass that strength on to the resulting Kaiju, giving you a chance to raise it into an even stronger creature.

Kaiju
Viewing Kaiju Data
  • At the Ranch and other locations, you can check a Kaiju's data by pressing "X".
Basic Information
  • Personality: Affects raising style and responses to your dialogue choices.
  • Weight: Affects damage taken and ability to dodge attacks.
  • Style: Affects raising period and stat growth.
  • Your raising style for a Kaiju changes based on how you take care of your Kaiju, or respond to its needs.
  • There are seven styles in total: Spoiled, Gentle, Easy, Even, Firm, Strict and Cruel.
    - The kinder you are, the longer your Kaiju's lifespan lasts. That being said, its stats may not grow as quickly.
Stats
  • Life: Knocked out when this runs out in battle.
  • Power: Increases damage dealt by Power-type attacks, and reduces damage taken from Power-type attacks.
  • Intelligence: Increases damage dealt by Intelligence-type attacks, and reduces damage taken from Intelligence-type attacks.
  • Skill: Increases accuracy, making techs easier to land, and raises the success of certain techs.
  • Speed: Makes it easier to dodge enemy attacks.
  • Defense: Reduces damage from enemy attacks.
  • Different Kaiju will have different stats that are easier to raise than others.

Determine which of your Kaiju's stats are easiest to develop and raise your Kaiju with maximum efficiency!

Conditions
  • Fatigue: Drills, errantries and tournaments can cause your Kaiju to get fatigued. Food and rest can heal Fatigue.
  • Anger: Increases through drills, errantries, or by doing things your Kaiju does not enjoy.
  • Loyalty: Your Kaiju may become confused in battle when its Loyalty is low. Conversely, when its Loyalty is high it may take drills and errantries more seriously.
    - Loyalty comes from Dependence or Fear. Both have to be raised to max out Loyalty.
  • Fame: Raised by winning in tournaments. Higher fame makes critical hits easier to land in battle.
  • Guts Recovery: How fast your Kaiju's Guts can recover. Goes from Speedy>Fast>Quick>Normal>Sluggish>Slow>Inert.
  • Movement Speed: How fast your Kaiju can move. Goes from Fast>Quick>Normal>Sluggish>Slow
Traits
  • Kaiju have traits— abilities unique to their breed.

Giving cookies lets you assign your Kaiju traits. The older a Kaiju gets, the more you can assign.

Techniques
  • Techniques are attacks used in battle. What techs you can use depend on your distance to the opponent. You can change tech order or hide techs from battle on this screen.
Stats and Gains comparisonTechs with Red icons use POW as their base damage stat.
Stats and Gains comparisonTechs with Blue icons use INT as their base damage stat.
  • - Tech Types: Two types, Power and Intelligence.
    - Guts Cost: Guts consumed by a tech.
    - Element: Four types, Fire, Ice, Electric and Poison.
    - Range: Four types, Melee, Close, Mid and Long.
  • Various aspects of a tech can be evaluated as such: S>A>B>C>D>E.
    - Damage: Damage dealt to the opponent's Life.
    - Skill: How likely is the tech to land.
    - Withering: How much of an opponent's Guts is reduced on hit.
    - Critical: Chance of landing critical hits.
Learning Techs
  • Raising a Kaiju's stats and fulfilling certain conditions may let it learn new techs during errantries.
Preference/Achievements
  • All Kaiju have likes and dislikes. Giving an item that your Kaiju likes will reduce Anger, and giving items that they dislike will raise Anger.
    - Flavor Preference: Food effects may vary based on a Kaiju's likes and dislikes.
    - Preferred Drill: A Kaiju gains more stats from their preferred drills.
    - Achievements: Times a Kaiju has thrown rampages or been injured.
Injuries
  • Drilling or entering tournaments when your Kaiju has high Fatigue may cause injuries. You won't be able to train again until the injury is healed, with heavier injuries needing more time to heal.
Retiring and Lifespans
  • There is a limit to how long you can raise a Kaiju. When a Kaiju reaches its competitive lifespan, you will have to retire it. Retired Kaiju cannot be trained or enter tournaments.

Each Kaiju has its own trainable period. This period is also affected by your raising style.

Unlocking New Kaiju
  • Winning special tournaments and obtaining items may make new Kaiju available to raise.

Raise various Kaiju, take on adventures and tournaments, and increase the number of Kaiju you can raise.

The City
In the City
  • In the city, you can obtain and power up Kaiju.
  • Altar: Where you obtain Kaiju. Inheritance Cookie Shop: Strengthen Kaiju with cookies. Research Center: Fuse Kaiju to obtain new ones. Association: Manage Kaiju in your possession.
Memory Boards (NFCs)
  • Devices equipped with NFC chips are referred to as Memory Boards in-game. The following can be scanned as Memory Boards: - Transportation IC cards - Membership cards, employee ID cards, etc. - Ultra Medals, etc. *Certain types of NFC, such as amiibo, cannot be read.
  • To scan a Memory Board, touch the device you want to scan to the NFC area. A single Memory Board can have different regeneration results under special conditions.

Scanning a Memory Board does not save personal information or trigger payment procedures.

  • By reading the NFC tag, the real time stamp and any data stored in the chip will be accessed, including the card identification number (e.g. UID, IDm, PUPI, etc.), card type, and card balance. . . The data accessed will be used for creating Kaiju, Inheritance Cookies (the in-game items that enhance Kaiju) and other characters and items of this game.
  • The data accessed will not be stored or used for any other purposes. For more information about how we handle your data, please refer to our privacy policy . https://legal.bandainamcoent.co.jp/privacy/

Please proceed to read the NFC tags only if you agree to the access to these data.

At the Altar
  • At the altar, you can regenerate and obtain new Kaiju from NFCs and keywords.
  • New Kaiju will become available to raise when you meet certain conditions during gameplay.

Raise various Kaiju, take on adventures and tournaments, and increase the number of Kaiju you can raise.

Altar: Memory Boards
  • Scanning Memory Boards (NFCs) lets you obtain new Kaiju. The Kaiju obtained changes depending on the NFC scanned. Some NFCs may even offer a different Kaiju to regenerate every time you scan it.
Altar: Keywords
  • Enter up to two keywords to obtain a new Kaiju. The Kaiju regenerated will depend on your chosen keywords.
  • You'll end up with a different Kaiju than expected if the keywords will regenerate a Kaiju you are not yet eligible to raise.
Altar: Searching Music (Japan/Southeast Asia versions ONLY)
  • Search for songs by their title or artist to obtain new Kaiju. The Kaiju regenerated depends on the chosen song.
  • A song cannot be selected if it will regenerate a Kaiju you are not yet eligible to raise.
Altar: Field Guide
  • Choose and regenerate Kaiju that you have previously owned.
Altar: Using Codes
  • Input UMF codes obtained through related toys and products to obtain specific Kaiju.
  • Once a UMF code is used, it won't be available to use again for the same save data for a period of time.
Altar: Supplied Kaiju
  • You can receive a Kaiju for free. You will not be able to choose the Kaiju you receive with this. The selection changes with the seasons.
At the Cookie Shop
  • Get freshly-baked cookies from Faline, or obtain them from Memory Boards (NFCs).
  • Give your Kaiju a cookie to assign a trait to it. These are unique, breed-specific abilities. Kaiju start with a single trait, and can have up to four traits as it ages.
Shop Special
  • Leave it to the clerk Faline to bake some cookies for you. The cookies you end up with are chosen at random.
Cookie Shop: Memory Boards

  • Fuse two Kaiju to pass on their stats and techs to a new Kaiju. Their appearance may also change based on inheritance. You can also add fusion items for further effects.
Fusion
  • When you select two Kaiju to fuse, the fusion result and its success rate are shown. The more compatible the pair, the stronger the resulting Kaiju.
  • Adding fusion items may change the result. You may be able to get a unique Kaiju, depending on the item used.
Fusion Items
  • Fusion items are mainly obtained from adventures and tournaments. Using specific fusion items lets you obtain new Kaiju.
At the Association
  • You can only raise one Kaiju at a time. Your other Kaiju will stay in the Association's care. You can swap the Kaiju you want to raise at the Association.
  • Kaiju at the end of their competitive lifespan are left in the Association's care. Even these Kaiju can be selected for VS Mode or fusion.
  • You can also release Kaiju for money. Released Kaiju will no longer be shown.

    Letter: Read received letters.
Giving Food
  • You can choose food at the start of the month.
    - Weight, Dependence and Fear change depending on your chosen food, while Fatigue and Anger change depending on the spices.
  • The foods a Kaiju eats are determined by its type. Your Kaiju's preferred flavors will also enhance the effects of provided food, while disliked flavors will lower those effects.
    - Giving the same food over and over may cause your Kaiju to grow tired of it.
  • Special foods obtained during drills have incredibly strong effects. Try to obtain them and feed them to your Kaiju. There are also special foods that can only be used once you have collected all the ingredients. Using these special foods will use up the ingredients.
  • A Kaiju's preferred flavors can be checked in the Other section of Kaiju Data. Preferred flavors increase or decrease the effects of food.
  • You can top food with certain spices to change their flavor. Spices can be obtained through drills or other means.
Drills
  • Puts a Kaiju through stat-raising drills. You should pick the appropriate drill to raise your desired stat.
  • There are four possible outcomes for drills: Super Success>Success>Failure>Slacking Off.
    - High Fatigue or Anger will make your Kaiju more likely to slack off.
    - Your Kaiju's stats will not change if it has failed or slacked off.
  • There are six training grounds, each with several types of drills available.
    - Each drill affects different stats.
    - You may obtain certain items after training.
Territory
  • Each training ground has a Territory Gauge, which rises the more drills you undertake in an area.
  • Drills become more effective when a Territory Gauge is maxed out.
    - Your Kaiju's breed may make it easier or harder to fill the Territory Gauge in certain training grounds.
Territory Battles
  • Rival Kaiju may appear in training grounds.
  • Choosing a training ground with a Rival Kaiju present will trigger a Territory Battle. Battling will not reduce the Territory Gauge. The stats of your Kaiju will increase after the battle.
    - Territory Battles include a Skip Battle option. Check Battles in the Help section for details.
  • Left to their own devices, Rival Kaiju will reduce the Territory Gauge. Rival Kaiju disappear the following week.
Anger
  • Anger builds up when your Kaiju does drills, goes on errantries, or is stressed.
Anger: Good or Bad?
  • Anger has a number of benefits in battle:
    - Increased Guts at the start of battle
    - Increased damage dealt during battle
  • Anger has a number of negative effects while raising your Kaiju:

    - Your Kaiju may throw tantrums
    - Your Kaiju is more likely to skip drills
    - Resting may fail
    - Your Kaiju is more likely to act confused during battle

Rampages
  • Your Kaiju may throw a tantrum if it has built up too much Anger.
  • You will be unable to raise your Kaiju while it is having a tantrum. The duration and negative effects vary depending on the type of tantrum.
  • When its tantrum is over, your Kaiju's maximum Anger will increase. This value is determined from its age, personality, number of tantrums, Loyalty, and other parameters. As it grows, its maximum Anger will increase and it will be less likely to throw a tantrum.
Types of Tantrums
  • [Destruction] Your Kaiju breaks the facilities on your ranch. It will cost money to fix them.
  • [Overeating] Your Kaiju overeats, gaining weight every week.
  • [Sulking] Your Kaiju goes to bed without permission. Recovers Fatigue every week.
  • [Fighting] Your Kaiju battles wild Kaiju without permission. Its stats will grow if it wins.
  • [Digging] Your Kaiju digs holes around the ranch. It may sometimes dig up items.
  • [Running Away] Your Kaiju runs away from home. It may sometimes bring back an item.
  • [Mischief] Your Kaiju goes to cause trouble at other facilities, like shops, the Association, and rival breeders’ ranches. You must pay compensation for any trouble. If your Kaiju visits a rival ranch, its friendship with their Kaiju will improve.
  • [Giant of Light] The Giant of Light may come to stop your Kaiju's tantrum.
    - Your Kaiju will challenge the Giant of Light to a battle. The tantrum will end after the battle regardless of whether it wins or loses.
Errantries
  • Sends your Kaiju to train with a rival breeder for four weeks.
    - Defeat a rival in a tournament to add them to the list of breeders your Kaiju can train with.
  • Your Kaiju may learn a new tech after an errantry. Its stats must be sufficiently high to acquire new techs.
    - The better the training goes, the more likely it is your Kaiju will learn a tech. Training with the same breeder multiple times increases the chance to acquire a tech.
  • Errantries cost a fee, but during a sale you can send your Kaiju for half price!
    - Asking a breeder to train your Kaiju builds your relationship with them. When you get close enough, they might even send you a letter!
Rest
  • When your Kaiju gets too tired from drills and errantries, it will get fatigued. Resting reduces Fatigue and Anger.
  • Your Kaiju is more likely to get injured while fatigued. In the worst case, it may suffer a mortal wound in battle and be forced to retire.
    - Keep in mind that your Kaiju might stay up all night and be unable to rest when its Anger levels are high.
  • When your Kaiju is resting, it may have dreams. What it dreams about will affect how well-rested it will be.
Items
  • You can use items to power up your Kaiju or reduce its Fatigue or Anger. You can use only one item per week.
    - Consumable Items: Have various effects when used on your Kaiju.
    - Owned Items: Provide various effects when held.
    - Key Items: Important items. Certain items are required to unlock new Kaiju.
    - Trade-In Items: Can be sold for a high value at shops.
    - Fusion Items: Used for fusion.
    - Ingredients/Spices: Used when feeding your Kaiju.
Shops
  • You can buy and sell items at the shop. If you're lucky, you might catch a sale and save some dough!
Letters
  • You will sometimes receive letters, such as notices that a tournament is being held or that there is a sale at the shop.
    - You will also receive letters from other breeders as you get to know them better.

Adventure
Adventures
  • Adventures let you go out and explore Ultra Valley with your Kaiju.
    - There is a variety of items to find, including some you won't find anywhere else!
  • Your Kaiju will be invited on Adventures when certain requirements are met, such as having sufficiently high stats or when it's the right season.

Adventures are only available for four weeks, but you may be invited again as long as you meet the requirements. Going on an Adventure advances time by four weeks.

Adventure Controls
    Ultra Kaiju Adventure Controls
Exploration
  • On adventures, moving and exploring will consume your Kaiju's Stamina. Make sure you get back to base camp before it goes below zero—if you don't, its lifespan will decrease!
    - You can investigate exploration points to obtain items.
  • The higher a Kaiju's life, the more Stamina they have to use while on an adventure.
    - You can quit an adventure with the "B" button. If you have enough stamina left when you quit, you can take back any items you've found. Otherwise, you'll lose all items you've collected.
Interactions
  • Adventure areas are filled with all sorts of interactable elements. Certain events only trigger if you have a specific Kaiju with you.
    - Obstacles: Can be broken through with enough Pow.
    - Shortcuts: Can be accessed with enough Int.
    - Hazards: Stepping on one will sap your Kaiju's Stamina. Certain Kaiju can destroy them and pass by without losing any Stamina.

The formats consist of Round Robin, Tournament, Team Battle, and Single Battle.
  • Four Official Battles are held each year. Winning raises your Kaiju's class by one level. For example, if your E-Class Kaiju wins the E-Class Battles, your Kaiju will rise to D-Class.
    - Plan out your Kaiju's training schedule so that they can win and rise up the ranks!
  • Select a tournament and press the "Y" button to join.
    - When the week of the tournament arrives Holly will give you a heads up.
    - You can only join one tournament at a time.
