Some monsters can be accessed right away in the game, just find a password for them. Some require a larger stable (you pay the carpenter to expand it), and some require storyline-based activities to be unlocked. These are the basic instructions for all breeds, instructions for Specials and Legends can be found in shrine topics.

Antlan: Available from the start.

Arrowhead: Requires larger stable.

Doodle:
1) Once you have unlocked all breeds except Doodle, you will find Chalk in Promiass (see expedition map for location)
2) Raise a Garu to Class D and bring him to Tapota
3) Go to the Quarry (see map also) events will turn your Chalk into OddChalk.
4) Use the OddChalk to combine and get Doodle.

Dragon:
1) Win the FIMBA Amity Cup (Class A, Invite on Jan 1, Tourney on Feb 1)

3) Go to breeder Training on Mar 2 with a Class A Monster. Find the Proof of Dragon in the northeast Corner temple of the Tapota Ruins.
4) Receive invitation for the Dragon Invitational Tourney on Apr 3.
5) Defeat Dragon in Tourney on May 3 to obtain permission to raise a dragon and receive a Dragon Tusk, used to create a dragon. If you lose this battle, you may enter again next year.
-Remember that you will need the Large Barn (Level 3, cost: 80000) to hold a Dragon.

Ducken: Available from the start.

Durahan:
1) Win the IMA Amity Cup (Class A, Invite on Jul 3, Tourney on Aug 3)
2) Receive invitation to Breeder Training on Aug 4

4) Receive invitation for the Durahan Invitational Tourney on Nov 2.
5) Defeat Durahan in Tourney on Dec 2 to obtain permission to raise a durahan and receive a DblEdged, used to create a durahan. If you lose this battle, you may enter again next year.

Gali:
A monster with 400+ INT is needed to get Gali.
1) Go to Malkt ruins and find the monument that reads "I am a God..." (N,E,S,E from start)
2) Return to start and talk to Mardoc at Agima.
3) Go back to Malkt and revisit the same monument. It will Now mention the H G R R S H (Henger research) Lab. It will also have a map.
4) Go to the ice crevice at north of the ruins. Once you have the map from the monument, you will find an Ice bridge across the gap.
5) Cross the gap, break the rock, search the temple at the end of the path. It will contain the Gali Mask.

Garu: Available from the start.

Gitan: Gitan can be made by winning an A-Class tourney that gives you an item called "black spear". Mix two monsters with it, and Gitan is yours. If you lose this battle, you may enter again next year.

Golem: Requires larger stable.

Hare: Available from the start.

Henger:
1) Explore the ruins of Malkt to find either the Gears or the Arm. The Arm can be found in the SE area of the map. The Gears can be found near the Center of the map and slightly west.
2) Return to the Studio with part you find. Chamois will take the part from you.
3) Go back to Malkt and get The Arm or the Gears, whichever one you didn't get the first time.
4) Return the part to the Studio. Chamois will take this part also. She will hold on to them while she does research.
5) A short while after you return from your expedition (about 2 months or so) Chamois will come to the Ranch saying she put the parts together. the Item is incomplete, though.
6) Go back to Malkt and find the Head, which is in the NE corner of the map.
7) Return to the Studio. Chamois will put the Henger together and give you an item called Mech Bot.
8) Use the Mech Bot as a combining item and you will receive a Henger.

Joker: You must be at rank A on Jan 1 for the initial event to occur. Your monster needs 200 minimum in every stat, and Pow or Int over 600. On the first week of January, Mr. Mardoc will ask you to hunt down the Joker that ran away from its owner in Tapota. When exploring Tapota, Look for the wild Joker, and defeat it. When you explore the buildings/sites, Holly and Karnab will say whether or not its there. If you defeat it, Mr. Mardoc will give you the Joker Mask that can be used in the Studio. Just mix two monsters with the mask, and you'll have a Joker.

The Joker fight's kinda tough (It has almost 600+ in every stat.) If you lose this battle, you may enter again next year.

Lesione: Requires the medium stable stable, so have Bint upgrade your stable in the Town Square.

Mew: Available from the start.

Mocchi: Available from the start.

Mogi: Available from the start.

Momo: Available from the start.

Monol: There is a Quarry in the NW corner of the Tapota Ruins. You must visit it at least once before the you can get the little Monolith from the the North Temple. Once you have visited, you can visit the temple that is in the center North area of the map. You should get it on the first try after visiting the Quarry. (My Monster had 200 Int, so it obviously is a set event. -Thorr)

In Tapota find the big pile of huge monoliths (this is the Quarry), and and look around for a very large building around that spot (It should have a flap top too). Your monster should find a small monolith, and once you find it, you'll immediately go back to your ranch. Bolzoi will stop by, and be amazed with the small monolith. He'll let you use it so you can make a pure monol.

Naga: Requires the medium stable stable, so have Bint upgrade your stable in the Town Square.

Octopee: Available from the start.

Phoenix:
Note: You must unlock Dragon, Durahan, Joker, Zan, Gali, Henger, and Monol before Step 3 will occur. The items must be used!
1) Beat Emperor's Cup and collect all six Orbs. See thread in FAQ on how to do this.
2) Make sure you have a good monster and raise him until Jan 1.
3) On January 1, Mardoc will come by. The Flare Orb will absorb the other Orbs.
4) The orb will bring you to Promiass ruins. Take the orb to the Phoenix Altar which at the true northern point of the map.
5) The Flare Orb will summon a Phoenix named Rampage. It's stats for me were as follows:
PowIntAccSpdDefLif
387604500490380427

6) Defeat the Phoenix and you will eventually receive the Feather.
7) Use the Feather as a combining Item and you will get a Phoenix!!

Pixie: Available from the start.

Psiroller: Requires larger stable.

Raiden: Visit the Square in Town at any time. (People have done this sucessfully with E level monsters.) A peddler will randomly appear and offer to let you battle for a discount price on the Nunchaku item. Either beat him and get it for half price, or decline to fight and buy the item at half price. Take the item and use in the Studio while combining two monsters. (Babies fresh from the shrine work just fine.)
Note: If for some reason you need to do other things first, the guy will stay in the square for one month after you first trigger him. Also, if you foolishly sell or gamble away (in 2P mode) the Nunchaku, the peddler will return later and offer them again.

Suezo: Available from the start.

Suzurin: Available from the start.

Tiger: Available from the start.

Zan: You must have a monster in Class S that has won a Class S official tournament.

4) Defeat Zan in Tourney on Aug 3 to obtain permission to raise a Zan and receive a Ninja Book, used to create a Zan. If you lose this battle, you may enter again next year.
