Ok, I've been researching on how to get monsters to start with more techs and this is what I came up with...
Notes: -All monsters were combined with a pixie, except pixie and zan, who were combined with a golem -The suzurin you get this way has BOTH power techs -The # of extra techs was measured off of the base ones, which are gotten through single character passwords, except for doodle who we know starts with 2
Facts: -Not all monsters are compatible enough for this to work, zan and pixie are an example -If you use 2 very compatible monsters you may get more techs -Sub breed(including legends and specials) monsters are prone to getting more techs, although it isn't guaranteed(I have seen sub zuums get TearBite, sub Arrowheads get MeteorBomb, etc.) -This works with all monsters, I just showed pures for simplicity -Single character passwords don't always work
Getting this to work: -You must take 2 of the same monster, combine them, then take one of another breed(must be of a different breed) and combine it to the other monster example: arrowhead+arrowhead=arrowhead, then the new arrowhead+pixie=4 tech arrowhead

Ok, I knew I forgot something. You can also pick the third combining monster, and it might have the techs. So arrowhead+arrowhead=arrowhead, new AH+Pixie=Pixie w/3 techs. It doesn't always work when you do it this way though. And with the sub breeds some techs get replaced with new ones altogether sometimes(Rarely seen it happen though). BTW, thanks Pattongeneral, Jimeous.

Cool findings Infernus. It makes sense that later generation monsters would have additional techs but I'm surprised to see it work with untrained family trees. Its also strange that the third monster must be different (you're certain that's the trick?).

Good work. I took a look at Jimeous' tech charts and tried to assimilate your data in with the info he posted about requirements.
My initial thought is that combination would give the monster some extra techs on the next tier of ability. However, it's really interesting that at least some of the techs are quite high, requirement wise.
For example, Arrowhead babies tend to gain scythe tail, under your method, and I know some of the babies I have made start with Meteor Bomb. Those are the two highest requirement techs on Arrowheads list.
So, in conclusion there is no pattern, but the lack of a pattern is interesting in itself.

To Seize: Yes, I'm certain that's the trick, no luck with monsters of the same breed.
